Background of the Study
A. History of the Place
1902- under U.S. government -- Fort McKinley
Used to be an area for military purposes (Military base)
1957- turned over to Philippine government. Became Fort Bonifacio, named
after the Father of Philippine Revolution---Andres Bonifacio.
2003- Bonifacio Global City was developed by Ayala Land, Inc. and Evergreen
Holdings, Inc. in partnership with Bases Conversion and Development Authority.

Bonifacio Global City is now
a world-class business and
residential center.

SWOT Analysis
Strengths
Traffic rules and regulations are strictly observed.
Clean place.
Secured places for visitors (Serendra and Bonifacio High
Street).
Being a business and residential area. People living within
the area can work nearby.

Weaknesses
Only 2 hotels are present in the area.



Opportunities
Market Market is still visited by a lot of people, which may
entice more people to visit other attractions in the place.
DPWHs plan to build a bridge to connect BGC and
Ortigas Center will increase the accessibility of the place.
BCDAs plan to turn the World War II Tunnel into a
museum and tourist attraction.
BGC bus from Ayala.

Threats
The issue of presence of illegal-drugs laboratory in the
area.

Objectives
To make a list of the existing tourist attractions.
To know more about the war tunnel.
To know if there are any issues regarding the BGC bus and its route
or issues about the accessibility of the place.
To plot attractions and bus route in BGC using GIS.
To do a site and character analysis of the place.
Significance of the Study
GIS of attractions in the city
- It shows that the city is not only a business district but it also have cultural and
historical significance.
- Shows the relationship between the bus routes and the landmarks.
- Shows what are the needs of the place (if there are any).
Increases the awareness of the people that the city has a potential as a tourism
destination.
To recommend the development of the war tunnel as soon as possible before the
future developments affect the remaining area of the tunnel.

War Tunnel
It was 1992 when AFP gave the
tunnel to The Fort.
BCDA (Bases Conversion and
Development Authority) plans to
convert it into a historical museum
but they did not start yet with the
plan.
Not open to public for safety. It is
150-200 meters beneath the city.
For site visit, it requires permit.
Only 730 meters remain
unaffected.
Bonifacio Global City Bus
Unit and Capacity:
BGC Bus: 19 units; 37 seats
HM Transport: 22 Units; 56 seats
Common problem is the waiting time of passengers.
Bus stop relocations because of ongoing building construction of some areas
(safety concerns).
Numbers of bus stops were minimized to avoid unloading anywhere in the city,
to maximize the trips and avoid delays in time of arrivals and departure.
Only Bonifacio Transport is allowed because it is a private estate.

Attractions
Central Route
East Route
West Route
Site Analysis
Mostly residential towers and office buildings.
Most of the residential buildings can be found in Crescent Park West and
Bonifacio South.
Bonifacio Center is the shopping and dining district of the place. There are many
good restaurants and clothing stores.
West Route bus stops are near the art installations. East Route bus stops are near
the shopping district.
There will be Shangri-La Hotel in the city which will open in 2015.
There are enough parking spaces.
There are clubs/bar&restos in the Bonifacio center as well.
The BGC bus provides 24 hrs. service.
Art installations can be seen near the entry and exit points of BGC Bus.

Visitors of Market! Market! are the usual people that can be found in any other malls.
Though, visitors of the Bonifacio Center are more of high-end people.
Prices are high in Bonifacio Center.
People from the Technology Center (Main Office) are approachable.
Guards in Bonifacio Center are kind.
Place is safe (in general).
There are parks are clean and quiet.
BGC Bus drivers are nice.
The place gives importance to Arts.
Public art installations portray significant information about the country.


Character Analysis
Criteria (for hotel placement)

Must be in a good environment.
Near the attractions (within 700 meters)
Walking distance to Bonifacio center (800 meters)
Recommendations
BCDA should start developing the war tunnel so that people can visit it and
appreciate its historical value.
If they are not going to start developing the tunnel yet, they should consider
this for future physical developments of the place so that the remaining area of
the tunnel wont be affected.
BGC should publicize the city not only as a business and residential district but
also an art district.
Maintain the cleanliness, order and security of the city.
