The Guiding Ray

Providing students with counselling services in facilitation of their
career choices and subject selection along with providing professional
response to the students personal and psychological growth and
development.
VISION

Create awareness about various viable career options, govt. schemes &
other opportunities.

Providing personal guidance on helping students to chase an
appropriate career option.

Provide motivation to students to bring a positive thought.

OBJECTIVES

Provides a medium to the students to explore their educational options
after 10+2.
Helps the students in knowing their interested career field and follow it
without any social constraint.
To help the students and their parents to make an informed decision
about their future.
Aims to eradicate the chimera of misinformation and ignorance about
the importance of higher education and how to achieve it.
MISSION

Volunteers are trained to counsel classes from 9 to 12.
Session starts with a friendly meeting to create a aura of ease and to
have open discussion in subsequent sessions.
In these sessions, students are told about various career options and
how they can pursue them
Before the start of session, volunteers are trained by experienced
volunteers.
Mock sessions are held to improve the skills of the volunteers.


WORKING

Organised a career fest, CARRUS successfully in association with
CONCETTO, annual tech fest of ISM, Dhanbad.
Collaborated with Medhavi Foundation, a Delhi based NGO with
similar prospects and started projected EDU-DISHA with them.
Under the project EDU-DISHA, 4000+ students were helped through
phonetic counselling regarding any problem related to the students.
50+ counselling sessions have been held in various schools across
Dhanbad so far including 10 sessions in the academic year of 2013-14.



ACHIEVEMENTS

Benefit of the program to the
Volunteers
Opportunity to work with a social organization at the grass root level
and gain the practical experience.

Experience the feeling of creating better lives for those, who cant do it
by themselves.

A platform for volunteers to harness management, leadership and team
management skills based on practical exposure and experiences


Launching a career book which would contain important information
about every field which would benefit students getting idea of every
small aspect of that career field. Some of fields are:
- Banking, Fashion, Entrepreneurship, ITI Polytechnic, Law,
Commerce, Medical, Engineering, Teaching
Increasing the no. of schools in which the counselling sessions are to be
taken.
Involving various private schools of Dhanbad.
