Inverted Pyramid Order for Oral Presentation
The Outline Approach
Construct one that is the most helpful
in giving the talk. Key words or
phrases may be enough to trigger
your thinking and the flow of your
thought.
For less familiar topics, an outline
that combines complete sentences
and key words and phrases may be a
better choice.
The note card approach
It presents one idea at a time.
It provides your memory with better
cues.
Create an outline first, then transfer
the main points to the note card. As
in the outline you can use key words
,phrases or sentences on the note
cards. Put 1 or 2 main point in each
note card. Number each on the upper
right hand corner to prevent them
from getting shuffled out of order.
Audiovisual Aids
Slides, graphs, photographs, charts, samples
or other illustrative materials to enhance your
listener's understanding and they can add
considerable impact to your talk.

REHEARSE
Steps
Fit your talk to the time allowed.
Include any audiovisual aids you want to
use.
Practice your talk in front of the mirror.
Adjust and correct to your talk as you
rehearse
Arrange with your instructor ahead of
time if you need eqIupments.

Fit your talk to the time allowed.
Make final adjustment after including
any audiovisual aids and given talk. If
you run over time ,study the outline
to eliminate or condense some items.
If you are short of the limit, go back
to the original paper and see what
you might add to fill out the time.
Include Audiovisual Aids
Do not rely on the aids to tell the
story for you, only to support your
talk.
Select only those slides ,graphs,
photographs or illustrations that
support your main topic.

Practice your talk before an
audience
Ask them to critique the following
elements:
Is the content informative /interesting?
Is the talk well organized, flows logically?
Do you appear good and deliver the
speech well?
Do you have any distracting mannerism
while you talk?

Adjust and Correct Your Talk
Dont rely on memory. Strong
emotions can wipe out the mental
notes you make to your self. Write a
note on your outline or notecards.

Make Arrangements for Your
Presentation
Check on the equipments needed,
projector, computer, outlet, lighting
etc.
Recruit somebody to handle
equipments or visual aids for you
while you concentrate on giving the
talk.
RELAX
Understanding the Physiology of Fear
Adrenaline rush
Strategies to manage your FEAR
Breathe deeply to decline anxiety
Move to burn the adrenaline
Support yourself emotionally- friendly
face in front, rapport with the audience.
