Briefly explain what are the basic skills required
by managers? (6 marks)

There are 3 types of basic skills that required by managers
One, Technical Skills , it is the ability to utilize tools, techniques and
procedures, that are specific to a particular field.
Two, Human Skills it can define as the ability to work effectively
with others
Lastly, Conceptual Skills, the ability to analyse complex situations



Discuss the three different managerial levels.

First-line Managers
They supervises the operational
employees
First level managers are often called
supervisors



Middle Managers; Linking Groups
Direct the activities that implement their
organizations policies and to balance the
demands of their managers with the
capacities of their employers.

Top-Level Managers
Provides the strategic direction for the
organization

Discuss the 4 major functions of management and how
do they relate to organizational goals

Planning
Setting goals and defining the actions necessary
to achieve those goals

Organizing
The process of determining the task to be done,
who will do them, and how those tasks will be
managed and coordinated

Leading
The ability to influence people towards
the attainment of organization goals.

Controlling
Monitoring the performance of the
organization and the progress in
implementing strategic and
operational plans


Discuss the motivation theory developed by
Douglas McGregor. (10 marks)

According to Douglas McGregor, there are 2 motivation theory,
One is called theory X and other called theory Y. Theory X stated
that, employee will dislike work and avoid work as possible.
Employee must be directed ,threaten and controlled to get
them work. Also, employee wish to avoid responsibilities and
prefer to be directed. This is known as authoritarian style of
management

While Theory Y stated that employee enjoy work and will actively
seek it. Employees are self-motivated and self-directed toward
achieving organizational goals. Aside from that, employee will seek
responsibility, and use their imagination ,creativity and ingenuity in
performing their jobs.
This theory is known as participatory style of management.
Explain the meaning of effectiveness and
efficiency. (4 marks)

Efficiency
Is achieved by using the fewest inputs to generate given output

The degree to which goals are achieved

Explain the interpersonal roles and informational
roles of a manager. (6 marks)

Interpersonal roles
involves interactions and relationship with organizational and
other constituents.

Figurehead
Leader
Liaison

Informational roles
responsible for ensuring people with whom they work have sufficient
information to do their jobs effectively and also gathering information
and disseminating information
