How is the representation of argument

constructed in this video

Nathan Beard
Camera shots
The video starts with a close up of Tina, this allows the viewer to get more of a feel for what is going on in this
case anger, frustration, sadness and regret. These feelings are all usually felt by the participants involved in an
argument. 00:02
The video then moves on to an angle-reverse-angle type shot in order to show the other characters reaction (Rob),
in this case it is clear to the viewer that Tina is the more vulnerable participant as Rob is managing to keep his
cool, this is passed on to the viewer as the director has chosen to use a shaking camera effect this makes the
viewer more anxious and makes them feel more vulnerable thus emphasizing the above point. 00:03
The close up, angle-reverse-angle and shaking camera are used throughout the scene and have the desired effect
on the viewer which is to make them feel a part of the action, this makes them pick a character to support,
thereby increasing viewer involvement. It also further represents argument.
After Tina is pushed off the balcony the director flicks between both characters faster and faster, this represents
the fast pace that is always present in arguments, it also further engages the audience.
The final shot in this clip is Robs face this shows the viewer that the roles have switched and he is now the
vulnerable character, this represents how in an argument roles can be switched at any given moment, as in
someone may go in to an argument with the edge and come out worse.
The fading out shot is a high angle shot, this represents the vulnerability of the character/s. This refers to
vulnerability in arguments.

Editing
The editor of this video has applied a filter to make everything
seem darker, this creates a sort of darkened atmosphere and
generally creates more tension, this is in fact representing peoples
feelings in an argument, by doing this the editor is pulling viewers
closer to the action as they can relate to this.

Camera movements
At the very end of the video there is a tilt shot to give viewers a
view of the aftermath and to represent the conclusion that most
arguments come to, although arguably much more extreme.
The final fading camera movement is a tracking shot, although
the camera appears to be mounted on a crane, so this movement
is used to tell the viewer that the action has finished and that the
next scene is ready but also that it is not quite over, which
foreshadows the future. This is a representation of the fact that
an argument can restart with relative ease.

Sound
Synchronous sound is used throughout the video by Tina and to a
certain extent Rob to emphasize the tense situation and this gets
the viewer more involved.
