Started in 2005 by Saloni Malhotra
as a test project sponsored by
Ashok Jhunjhunwala's TeNet group
from Indian Institute of Technology,
Madras.
Connected the three dots in her
head, rural, business, and
technology to give rise to The
DesiCrew Solutions Pvt Ltd.
The DesiCrew rural delivery model
is:
A network of micro-centres
strategically selected across rural
and semi-urban locations.
Professionally run with a 25 seat
facility working in 2 shifts to
provide back-end services to global
clients.
Locations identified in territories
with a population in the range of 10
to 100 thousand.
The workforce built up by
training the educated but under
employed.

DesiCrew Business Model offers a
full umbrella of services.
This model leverages people,
processes and technology to deliver
global service standards across
various verticals - Insurance,
Market Research, Internet &
Mobile, E-Governance, and the
Social Sector.

through the peephole. You must open the door and
welcome in you life

Saloni 3 Dots in her mind, rural, business and
technology.
The First Model which she came up Kiosk
based where the idea was to have computer
centre in village which would enable education,
health and other benefits. But this model did not
work due to long hours of idle time of computers.
The idea was to get people start working from
these kiosk. nLouge was a company started on the
IIT Madras Campus which has around 3000 such
kiosk. The team started publishing DTP, data entry,
formatting of documents with the help of former
ex-IITes, friends.
The Second Model was Franchise
Model,where they decided that there should be
4-5 computers in one place and group of people
should come and work, which would run as a
franchise, in February 2007, the project was
registered as DesiCrew Solutions Pvt Ltd

Saloni Malhotra , a girl from Delhi and
Engineer from Bhartiya Vidyapeeth,
University of Pune, had n idea of starting her
own business just to know ki apna business
chalana kya hota hai
Along with her Engineering and extra
carricular activities , she came up with a
small interactive media startup called Web
Chutney in Delhi.
Prof.Ashok Jhunjunwala of TeNet, from IIT
Madras was a Backbone for Saloni , whos
ideas helped her to make her dream in
reality.
