INTRODUCTION
 At present, the most popular OS for personal computer or
PC is Microsoft Windows or MS-Windows or Windows.
 There are several versions of Windows:
 Windows 95
 Windows 97
 Windows 2000
 Windows XP
 Windows Vista

3.1 INTRODUCTION TO WINDOWS

 Ms-Windows is an OS that uses a graphic environment as


its interface.
 An interface like this means the user can open several
windows and each windows can be used for a specific
purpose.
 In each Windows, there are icons and menus that are
used to give commands
 The user can make use of guide instruments such as a
mouse to click on the icon or menu.

 Support a variety of hardware and software

 Standard Icons- My Documents, My computer, Recycle Bin,
Internet Explorer
 Taskbar – utilizes its space for the start button
 Quick Launch Toolbar – provides space for emplacing
application icons

3.2 MOUSE USAGE IN BRIEF

 The mouse is the most frequently used device when using


MS-Windows.
 The methods of using a mouse:

 Click and Drag

 Ms-Windows allows us to open several windows at one


time.

SUMMARY

 Ms-Windows is an OS which is easy to use because it has


user-friendly interfaces
 It makes work easy and can be managed quickly through
the use of menu, icon, button and the short-cut menu.
 You have been exposed to the concept and facilities
provided by MS-Windows.
