RRU close to antenna
RRU up to 7m to Antenna (No TMA, no feeder)
DC power cable (from BBU to RRU)
Fiber (from BBU to RRU)
RF jumper up to 5m (from RRU to Antenna)
RF jumper >5m <7m (from RRU to Antenna)
(1/2 feeder could be used with connectors 7/16 male to RFF 1/2)
Pros
No TMA and feeder installation
RF performance improvement (coverage & capacity)
Cons
Might require tower reinforcement
More difficult maintenance

TR Antenna
(1) RRU modules are always installed outdoor!
(reduced heat dissipation inside = less electricity for A/C)
(2) RRU installation position is selected based on a simple BC considering cost of the required
reinforcement vs. expected RF performance achievement/improvement

Cable/Feeder Installation Rules
12
BTS Outdoor or Indoor

7/8 or 1/2, copper or aluminum coax shall be used

Run-lengths over 75 meters shall be avoided

All feeder cables shall be fixed to masts, cable trays etc.

For vertical cable traces only cable hangers with clamps shall be
used, strips and tapes are not accepted

Jumpers are used for connecting: Feeder to antenna/TMA/BTS,
RRU to antenna/TMA, TMA to antenna, connections with
combiners/splitters/couples

Use premade 1/2'' Jumpers with 7/16 male connectors at both
ends for lengths are 1/2/3/5m

For longer lengths (5-7m) a Jumper should be assembled from
1/2'' feeder with 7/16 male connectors

Base Station Antennas (BSA)

Standard for rural areas (900 only): X-pol, 65 deg HBW, 7 deg VBW, 18 dBi;
ports shall be shared by UMTS and GSM system

Standard for triple band configurations in urban and suburban areas
(900/1800/2100): XXX-pol.: 1x 790-960MHz + 2x 1710-2170MHz, 65 deg
HBW, 7 deg VBW 18/18 dBi; 900 ports shall be shared by GSM and UMTS
system, first 1710-2170 can be shared between GSM and LTE system, second
1710-2170 port can be shared between UMTS and LTE

Standard for dual band configurations in urban and suburban areas
(1800/2100): X-pol 1710-2170MHz, 65 deg HBW, 7 deg VBW, 18dBi

In special cases 30 deg HBW, 8 deg VBW, 20 dBi high gain X-pol antennas
shall be used for 790-960 and 1710-2170 ranges respectively

In situations where discrete installations are needed integrated 3-sector pole
antennas shall be used
