Audience Feedback -

Questionnaires
Nasima
Harpreet
After being certain of our ideas, we wrote up our treatment, being confident with our
short film. We wanted others to read our treatment and to answer a questionnaire which
we have created about our short film. We produced this questionnaire so we have other
peoples opinion on our short film, too see if it is something that they would watch.

The demographic that we chose to answer our questionnaire were teenagers to young
adults the youngest respondent was 15 and the oldest being 22. We chose this
demographic because they are our intended target audience, therefore their opinions will
count. Also, this younger demographic are most likely to be victims of arranged or forced
marriages and so they are more likely to relate to our short film. We gave the
questionnaire to both genders (10 males and 10 females), this is because we wanted to
test our hypothesis that arranged/forced marriages are more of a problem related to
females rather then males so we wanted both their point of views.

In the next slides, are some of the questionnaires that we got back from the respondents.

20/20 of our respondents
wrote similar answers to
question one. This
connotes that the concept
and issues in our short film
are very clear for the
viewers to watch.
Many of our
respondents believe
that forced/arranged
marriages are a
serious problem and
our short film
emphasises this.
10/20 of the
respondents saw
forced/arranged
marriage as a female
problem rather then
the opposite gender.
6/10 of those
respondents were
male.
We considered this
feedback; however
we came to a
conclusion that we
will not include her
boyfriend in it as
we want our short
film to have an
continuous
enigma.
12/20 of our
respondents said they
like the part where she
rips her head-scarf off
while on the other
hand, the rest of the
respondents said that
this can be seen as
negative towards
religious people who
follow Islam.
Most of the
respondents have
said that they like
the whole concept
of our short film.

- From this audience feedback, we gathered many useful information that will benefit us
to make our short film successful.

-All of our respondents said that they would enjoy watching our short film; this connotes
that our intended target audience is suitable to watch our short film and would watch it.

- All of our respondents knew the concepts and themes we were achieving for such as love
and marriage, this shows that our short film has a clear narrative and we must make this
clear when filming our short film.

-Our respondents liked the idea of revealing a hidden issue; as arranged/force marriages
are mostly done in secret.

-From our findings, we found that females are more likely to relate to our short film
because forced/arranged marriages are more likely to happen to females. Because of this,
are short film may have more female viewers.

- 20/20 of our respondents like the fact that our short film is based on social realism;
however 8/10 said that it can bring a negative feedback from Muslims (because of her
ripping her headscarf off). Therefore, when filming, we will be more considerate and
careful in a way that the religion is not seen in a negative light.
