Global Warming –
What is it?
• Rise in earth’s
temperature.
• Results from changes in
the natural environment.
• Caused by too much
carbon dioxide.
Explanation of the causes of
global warming
Burning of fossil fuels
• The burning of fossil fuels releases Carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere.
•
• In the past 150 years, burning fossil fuels
has caused a 25 % increase in Carbon
dioxide emissions.
•
• In the last 200 years, Nitrous oxide has
increased 17%. Methane has increased
150%.
•
• Methane is 21 times more effective than
Factories and
vehicles emit
smoke which
contains CO2
and CO.
These gases
are mainly
responsible for
Green house
effect.
Effects of global warming
• More carbon dioxide
-> more heat
•

Rise in
Temperature
Ozone Layer
Depletion
Glaciers are melting; water level is
increasing
Frequent
occurrence of
hurricanes .
• Global warming is disrupting or
severely affecting habitats of
various plants and animals.
Climate change is the most
severe problem that we are
facing today .
- Extreme temperatures
can directly cause
the loss of life.
-
- Warmer weather
provides an ideal
breeding
environment for
mosquitoes and
other insects.
-
- High temperature can
increase pollution of
water and air, which
harms the human
body.
