What does it all mean?

Understanding
Warren Rupp Pumps

Principle of Operation
How does it work

Typical AODD
Powered by compressed
air, nitrogen or natural gas
Flooded suction or suction
lift
Solids and slurries

How the Air works

The main air valve
sleeve and spool
distributes compressed
air to an air chamber
exerting uniform
pressure over the inner
surface of the diaphragm

At the same time, the

compressed air that is on
the opposite diaphragm
is being directed through
the main air valve sleeve
and spool to the exhaust
port

How the Air works

Incoming compressed air is
directed by the pilot valve to
the outer surface of the
main air valve spool
The Cross Drill port is
exposed to in-coming
compressed air which
allows positive pressure to
ensure a full shift of the
spool, eliminating
Centering
The main spool opens the
ports to allow the incoming
compressed air to apply
force to the inner face of the
diaphragm creating the
discharge stroke

How the Air works

Exhaust air is directed
by the main air valve
to atmosphere.
Pressure is lowered in
the chamber resulting
in a pressure
differential

How the Air works

How the Air works

As compressed air is
directed to the inner face
of one diaphragm the
diaphragm rod pulls the
opposite diaphragm
forcing the exhaust air
out of the chamber

The inner plate on the

exhaust side of the pump
engages the actuator
plunger, shifting the pilot
valve
Piloted air shifts the main
air valve spool

How the Air works

The result of the air
being piloted across
main air valve and
the diaphragm rod
connecting the two
diaphragms is a
shifting pump

How the Air works

ESADS+Plus
Externally Serviceable
Air Distribution System

How the Check Valves

Work
The air pressure behind
the diaphragm force the
fluid to push open the
discharge check valve
while forcing the suction
side check ball to seat.
