FOR PRINCIPAL

1. Supervises and directs all school personnel in an

elementary school with at least 11 to 29 teachers.


2. Leads in the development and implementation of
all educational programs in the school.
3. Promotes the efficiency of teaching and learning in
all classes through in-service training, observations,
visits, etc.

4. Coordinates all services for the wholesome growth

and development for all pupils and other personnel in


the school.
5. Leads in the evaluation of achievements towards the
goals of the school in relation with the district.
6. Directs the organization of classes, determines and
assigns the teaching loads of the staff.

7. Makes proper distribution of instructional and other

materials.
8. Provides for the accommodation of pupils
including the availability of building for classrooms
and other school needs.
9. Represents the district supervisor in the school.
10. Coordinates and cooperates with the community and
other agencies.

11. Prepares, consolidates and submits all school

reports of the school to the district.


12. Rates the performance of the teachers in the school
and recommends deserving ones for promotion, and
13. Does related work.

OVERVIEW OF MASTER TEACHER POSITION


Primary role is, with the principal, to analyze student data
Create and institute an academic achievement plan for the

school
Lead cluster groups and provide demonstration lessons
Coaching and team teaching to career teachers
Teacher I-III on average 6 hours per day teaching student
two more hours added to the teaching time
Collaborate to determine the adoption of learning
resources
Partners with the principal in evaluating/observing other
teachers
Partner with the principal in sharing some of the
responsibility of interacting with parents

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Analyze school-wide student data as basis for

developing a school plan


Develop a school plan
Oversee planning, facilitation and follow-up of cluster
group meetings during Professional Growth Blocks
(in-service trainings)
Team teach with colleagues, demonstrate model
lessons, and help implement curriculum
Observe and provide peer assistance

Attend professional development meetings


Work an expanded calendar year

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


OF A MASTER TEACHER
A. LEADERSHIP TEAM PARTICIPATION
1. Analyzes student data to identify student learning
goals.
2. Develops a universal school improvement plan.
3. Creates a school assessment plan
4. Monitors goal setting activities
5. Classroom follow-up in goal attainment for cluster
groups and individual growth plan(IPPD)
6. Assesses teacher observation result

B. CLUSTER GROUP PLANNING AND


IMPLEMENTATION
1. Develops the long-range cluster plan, weekly cluster
group meeting records and activities with other
members of the leadership team.
2. Lead, co-lead or attend selected cluster meeting
weekly
3. Provide appropriate follow-up in classroom, and
4. Assess all cluster groups progress toward goals.

C. MANAGE TEACHERS INDIVIDUAL GROWTH

PLAN (IGPs)
1. Oversee group s of teachers in developing goals
2. Provide instructional interventions with proven
results
3. Facilitates teacher proficiency with the new
strategies through classroom-based follow-up
4. Ensure that the progression of teacher skill
development is aligned with changing student
learning needs

D. OBSERVATION/CONFERENCING

Conduct classroom observation and conferencing


for both announced and unannounced observations.
E. CLASSROOM FOLLOW UP
Provide support following every cluster meeting-e.g.
observation/feedback, model teaching, demonstrated
lesson and team teaching for cluster and individual
teacher mentoring situations.
F. PROFESSIONAL GROWTH
1. Has a high level of educational knowledge

2. Afforded the opportunity to work with the program


specialists and other master teachers to enhance their
skills.
3. Provide teachers with the best instructional
interventions and strategies.
4. Mentor teachers and attend selected in-service
training session.
