England

History, culture, economy, geography and policy.

England was conquered in 1066 by an army led by Guilherme,


Duke of Normandy, a feoff the Kingdom of France. The Normands
originated in Scandinavia and settled in Normandy, a few centuries
later. They introduced feudalism and maintained power through the
barons, who built castles in England. The period saw changes in trade
and legislation, including the signing of the Letter Magna.
During the fourteenth century, The England and France faced
in the Hundred Years War. The epidemic of the Black Death struck
England, from 1348, and killed half of its habitants. From 1453-1487 a
citizen war between two branches of the royal family, a House of
York and House of Lancaster, became known as the Wars of the
Roses.
During the Civil War, Oliver Cromwell rose to power and was
the only representative of a brief republican period in
England. Already stabilized in power, enacted the Act of Navigation,
favoring the British economy and further development of its navy.

General: The currency used in England is the Pound Sterling,


its a currency with higher value international, the cents are known
as Peance. The England has the one of the four major European
economies, it also has the sixth GDP (gross domestic income ) of the
world, being inferior only U.S.A, Japan, Chine, Germany and France.
England is a leader in the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors, and in
key technical industries, especially the arms industry, the aerospace,
and the software industry.
Tourism- usually people go to the most famous places of the
country like the Big Bang, football stadiums, baseball stadiums,
people can visit museums, and they can know all those places with
the double-deck buses.
The education: is mandatory in the England from 5 to 16
years old, being offered the state-funded schools, or independent
schools. The schools are offered for gender, may very from: boarding
schools ( all students live and study in the school ), day schools
( where the students only study in the morning ) or grammar school
( for the students who stand out more ).

The English culture is very similar to the UK, so it is often


difficult to differentiate them, but there are some unique aspects of
England, like sports, cooking, music and more ...
Cuisine: The English food has a rustic stilly with traditional
influences from inside, and is a type of food simple and homely,
There are some typical British food, which are constantly consumed
as apple pie, which is used since medieval times and is usually used in
desserts, vanilla ice cream or custard 'is much served with dessert,
lunch and dinner English, may contain beef or pork pies, the pie is
served hot with vegetables.
Music- the English music, as well as being influential in the
world, contributed to the spread of English around him, prevailed
ever since the Beatles. Until today that The Libertines have followed
the tradition of England ever have some of the best bands in the
world. The country gave rise to bands inside and known worldwide
as The Clash, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Elton John, Oasis, Joy
Division, Fri Pistols, Iron Maiden.

England did not have any kind of government independent


from the UK. Today, Britain is a parliamentary monarchy, the
parliament is in charge of creating laws and provideciar public
works, while the king (Chief of State) has a representative function
and diplomatic function .
The current Chied of State is Elizabeth II of UK, and the Chief
government is Prime Minister David Camaron.

The England corresponds to most of the southern two thirds


of Britain. It is limited on the north by Scotland and the west by Wales.
Most of England is covered with Roling Hills, being more mountainous
in the north. The dividing line between terrain types is usually
indicated by the line Tees-Exe.
The three largest cities in England are:

2. Birmingham: 1 006 500 habitants.
3. Liverpool: 469 017 habitants.
