ABOUT COMPANY

HEERAPURA power house is a plant of PLCC.

It known as 220KV GSS in JAIPUR.

It is used to provide electricity in long distance areas

where direct communication is not possible.

It is known as RRVPNL in JAIPUR.

RRVPNL means RAJASTHAN RAJYA VIDYUT

PRASARAN NIGAM LIMITED.

VISION AND MISSION

RSEB started from 1 July 1957
*RRVPNL is upgraded by RSEB in 1 April 2001
* It is a big organization and it functions under provisional
electricity act
AIM:- The aim of RRVPNL is to supply electricity to entire
Rajasthan state in most economical way. The target of board
is to distribute energy in new areas of RAJASTHAN as soon
as possible

INTRODUCTION TO PLCC
POWER LINE CARRIER COMMUNICATION
Power line carrier communication has been found to be the

most economical and reliable method for communication in a

medium and over long distance in a power system.

SPECIFICATIONS OF PLCC
1)GENERAL Carrier frequency range :- 40 to 512 KHZ
Useful AF band :- 300 to 3,700HZ

2)TRNSMITTER
R.F.TRANSMITTING POWER;

-peak envelope power :- 25w

-side band power :- 15w
7

-I.F. CARRIER FRIQUENCY

: 16 KHZ

-PILOT TONE

: 3600 HZ

-DUMMY LODE

: 20 OHMS

3)POWER SUPPLY
-DC SUPPLY

: 24 V

-CAPACITY

: 800 AH

- POWER CONSUMPTION

:< 80 W
8

WAVE TRAP
It is used to prevent the
losses in the
communication signal.

It consist of suitability
designed chock coil in
series
It prevent cross talk

COUPLING
COUPLING IS DONE TO COUPLE THE POWER LINE
(TRANSMISSION LINE) AND PLCC EQUIPMENT
TYPE OF COUPLING

1. PHASE TO GROUND COUPLING

2. TWO PHASE COUPLING
3. PHASE TO PHASE COUPLING
4. INTERLINE OR INTER CIRCUIT COUPLING

LIGHTNING ARRESTER
When
(greater

high
then

voltage
normal

voltage) exist on the

Line then the arrester

immediately furnishes a
path to ground and thus
limit and drains off the
excess voltage
14

CIRCUIT BRACKERS
These are use to operate on the faulty either on line or
transformer, depending upon where it is used
These isolate the faulty line or equipments from the line
operation of the substation by operating automatically

through protective relay .

BATTERY CHARGER
When power is goes off then for providing power to the
PLCC equipment the battery will be used.
24 battery are connected in series individually battery are
approx 2v provide 48volt.

Battery charger consist 2 sections

1. FLOAT CHARGER
2. BOOST CHARGING

ADVANTAGES OF PLCC
1. The cost is less.

2. Power lines have appreciably higher mechanical strength compared

with ordinary lines. They would normally remain unaffected under the
conditions, which might seriously damage telephone lines.
3. Power lines usually provide the shortest route between the power
stations.
4. Power lines have large cross-sectional area resulting in very low
resistance per unit length. Consequently carrier signals suffer much
less attenuation than when they travel on telephone lines of equal
lengths.

19

DISADVANTAGES OF PLCC
1. Proper care has to be taken to guard carrier equipment and
persons using them against high voltages and currents on the
lines.
2. Reflections are produced on lines connected to high voltage
lines. This increases attenuation and creates problem.
3. High voltage lines have transformer connections, attenuate
carrier currents. Sub-station equipments adversely affect the
carrier currents.
4. Noise introduced by power lines is far more than in case of
telephone lines. This is due to the noise generated by discharge
across insulators, corona and switching processes.
It is obvious that an effective power lines carrier system must
overcome these difficulties.
