Introduccin
Las intervenciones psicosociales para el tratamiento de
la obesidad y el control del peso han sido utilizadas con
resultados variables durante las ltimas dcadas (Cooper
y cols., 2010).
Objetivo: ayudar a los pacientes a reducir al menos
entre 5 y 10% de su masa corporal, para posteriormente
mantener esa reduccin en el largo plazo (Raman, Smith
y Hay, 2013).
Abordajes familiares
Se usan principalmente para el tratamiento de nios y
adolescentes con obesidad y sobrepeso.
Cuatro categoras de intervenciones familiares (SungChan y cols. 2013):
Autoayuda Guiada
Los mtodos de autoayuda se desarrollaron con la
intencin de proveer de tratamientos a gran escala
(Isabelle y cols., 2011).
Objetivo: ofrecer una estructura para los pacientes que
les permita mejorar su adherencia a los programas para
reduccin y control del peso (Boutelle y cols., 2013).
Conclusiones
Uno de los principales retos para lograr una mejora
significativa con este tipo de intervenciones es el de
lograr un mantenimiento de los cambios alcanzados en
cuanto a la reduccin del peso.
Es necesario replantear los modelos de formulacin de
los mecanismos psicolgicos que subyacen a las
dificultades para reducir el peso.
