CONCRETE
The DLC sub base shall extend
beyond the pavement edges by
50cm to facilitate further
construction operation.

contractor)
Aggregate:1. Aggregate complying with IS: 383.
2. Maximum size of coarse aggregate shall be
25mm.
3. Fine aggregate shall conform to IS 383.

Water:-Up to PH value 9 is
permitted.

Mix Proportioning:-Maximum aggregate to cement


ratio 15:1.

Moisture content: - By trail length, the optimum water


content shall be determined and demonstrated by rolling
during trail length construction and the optimum moisture
content and degree of completion shall be got approved
from the engineer , At main work moisture content
between optimum & optimum 2%.
Cement content: - Minimum 150kg/cum of concrete. If
specified strength not achieved than extra cement or
upper grade cement may be used.
Concrete strength: - The average compressive strength of
each group of 5cube shall not less than 10mpa at 7days
but not less than 7.5mpa for individual cube .
Trail mix: - Optimum moisture and density shall be
established by preparing cube with varying moisture
cements. Compaction of the mix shall be done in three
layers with vibratory hammer fitted with a square or
rectangular foot.

The subgrade shall confirm to the grades and


cross section shown on the drawing.
GSB may be 150mm to 100mm thick.
The sub base shall be overlaid with cement
concrete pavement only after7days after sub
base construction.
Plant mix DLC shall discharged immediately
from the mixer, transported directly to the point
where work in progress.
The laying of two-lane road sub-base (DLC) shall
be done in full width.
To ensure through compaction which is
essential, rolling shall be continued on full width

The minimum dry density obtained shall be 97%


of that achieved. At edges i.e. 050m from edges
shall not less than 95%.
At time of construction of concrete temperature
is between 25C to 30C.
Work shall not proceed when the temperature of
the concrete exceeds 35C.
After compaction has been completed , roller
shall not stand on compacted surface.
Double drum smooth-wheeled vibratory rollers
of minimum 80 to 100 kg static weight.
Special curve shall be exercised during
compaction near joint kerbs, channels, side
forms and around gullies and main holes. In
case adequate compaction is not achieved by
the roller at these points, use of plate vibrator
shall be made.

The final surface shall be inspected immediately on


completion and all loose segregated pr defective area
shall be corrected by using fresh DLC material laid and
compacted.
For repairing homer combed surface, concrete with
aggregate of size 10mm and below shall be spread and
compacted.
Curing shall be done by covering the surface by gunny
bags/hissing in minimum three layers which shall be kept
continuously moist for 7 days by sprinkling water.
No heavy commercial vehicle like trucks and buses shall
be permitted on DLC after its construction .Light vehicle
if unavailable may ,however, be allowed after 7 days of
its construction.
The control of strength shall be exercised by taking
samples of dry lean concrete for making cube at the rate
of 3 samples for each 1000sqm or part there of laid each
days . The sample shall be compacted ,curved and tested
is accordance with IS:516

Quality Control
Quality Control:-Cube shall made compacted by
mean of vibratory hammer
with the mould placed on level & rigid base . The
vibratory hammer shall be electric or pneumatic
type fitted with a square or rectangular foot
having on area of between 75sqcm to 140sqcm.
The compaction shall be uniformly applies for
60+5 second with a down ward force between
300N and 400N on to each of three layers of the
lean concrete material placed in to the mould .

Following Quality test required


Following Quality test required: Levels alignments.
Physical & chemical test of cement once for each
surface.
Grading of coarse & fine aggregate One test for every
days.
Deleterious constituents one test every days.
Water observation Regularly as required.
LOS angles abrasion test or Impact test one for a surface.
Strength of concrete3cube for 1000sqm at site.
Density FDD
MDD As required as per Engineer.
