This document discusses fire protection systems in industry. It outlines the objectives of fire protection systems as providing adequate protection and safety devices to minimize risk and detect, isolate, and control fires and hazardous releases. It then describes various fixed, mobile, and portable fire protection systems used in industry such as water reservoirs, pumps, hydrants, monitors, deluge systems, foam systems, gas systems, detection systems, foam and dry chemical tenders, and handheld extinguishers. Design criteria are provided for proper implementation of each system.
