COFFEE PULPING MACHINE

ABSTRACT
To pulp the coffee with existing technology

combined with implementing

new innovative modifications by fabrication and
design
To improve the capacity of the pulper by unique
design of shoe
To increase the speed of the pulper manually using
pedal mechanism
COFFEE PULPING MACHINE

INTRODUCTION
Traditional

single disc coffee pulpers with hand

operated are common in design
They have a speed of around 60 RPM and the Shoe is
having one hump
The Outer body is made of cast iron and the operation
is a tiresome business
Providing mild steel body is economical
Providing peddle mechanism increases the speed to
around 80 RPM
Providing double hump in the shoe makes pulping
cleaner
COFFEE PULPING MACHINE

LITERATURE SURVEY
Coffee

pulper is fed with measuring unit called

Bushal.
1bushal=43 kgs of raw coffee. On pulping an average of
17kgs of pulped seeds are obtained incurring 60Rs cost.
50kg/bag * 10bags = 500Kg/acre
1bushal plucking- 130Rs/labour
A labour plucks 3 bushal/day
Average costs for one acre:
1000Rs for plucking
180Rs for cleaning
500Rs for labours
Hence total cost= 1680Rs/acre

COFFEE PULPING MACHINE

PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION
The

current manually operated single

disc pulping machine is having small
capacity

The

pulping action takes place at

lesser speeds in hand operated
pulping machines

Also

rotating the machine with hand

is a tiresome work

PROGRESS OF THE PROJECT

We are working on the project from
past one month and have
conducted literature survey on
the problems the coffee planters
are facing by visiting some
plantations.
We are doing our project in an
engineering works and right now
assembling the various parts is
taking place.

CONCLUSION
11

Ultimately the objective of the project is to reduce

the cost of the machine as well as to make ease of
operation of the machine with simple existing
technology
We hereby want to say that our project will complete
with in one week and we are sure that it will
operate in a successful way
