COMMINUTION EXAMPLE
The design of the circuit is to achieve a product of 110 microns.
Process Data
The components required are SiO2 (Quartz) Solid and H2O aqueous.
Stream 1 - The Feed flowrate is 400 mt/hr and contains 95% solids.
Stream 14 - Ball mill make-up water. Initially estimated as 10 mt/hr. This flowrate will
be adjusted by a percent solids controller, PSC, on the ball mill unit operation,
maintaining 68% solids.
Stream 16 - Cyclone make-up water. Initially estimated as 10 mt/hr. This flowrate will
be adjusted by a percent solids controller to maintain 55% solids.
