BRUSHLESS ALTERNATOR
1.Alternator is important there increasing the speed of trains. Without
this the speed of 150-160 km was in dreams for railways, but now it
is possible by using it.
2. It has very rugged structure, no carbon brush problem, least
maintenance, no winding on the rotor. It is really a very rugged
structure because it can easily work for about 20 years without need
of major maintenance also it can be used in quite adverse
conditions.
3. The ALTERNATOR are used for :1. Charging the coach Battery.
2. Operation of fan, light etc in coach.
3. Increasing the speed of train.

A basic rotor consists of a iron
core, coil winding, two slip rings,
and two claw-shaped finger pole
pieces.
Some models include support
bearings and one or two internal
cooling fans.
The rotor is driven or rotated
inside the alternator by an
engine (alternator) drive belt
