What are the minimum hardware requirements to install and operate the Service ADVISOR application?
Hardware and/or network minimum requirements:
Hard drive 120 GB Recommended
1-3 GB RAM (4GB of RAM requires a 64-bit OS, which is not supported)
32-bit Windows Vista Business or XP Professional Operating System (64-bit OS not supported)

Internet Connection (Mandatory to download the license; broadband recommended for Incremental
Updates)

Keep Hardware updated with current video drivers

An Electronic Data Link (EDL) is a


computer that serves as a
communication translator to enable
a computer with Service ADVISOR
installed to be able to talk to the
machine's on-board network,
controllers, and sensors.

PDM
No longer supported
Will not connect to multiple
CAN busses

Note: Electronic Data Link (EDL) V2 (Version 2)


is available. This EDL V2 will be required to run
CAN Health test that will be available on later
releases of Service ADVISOR.

1. Click on the Search Manuals link.
2. Type in the search word(s) or use the Add
Keywords (if available) option to add words
to the search.
3. Click Search to begin the search.
4. Results will appear below the search fields.

Clear by Controller - Clears the
inactive trouble codes for a selected
controller.Sterge codurile inactive.
Clear All - Clears all diagnostic
trouble codes in all of the
controllers on the machine. It then
retrieves diagnostic trouble codes
and displays any codes that may

There are 4 adapter types:
Data Module (PDM)

Electronic Data Link
(EDL) (Stand-alone
USB Device)
EDL using bluetooth

The default is Parallel Data Module (PDM).

Bluetooth technology allows electronic


devices to synchronize and transfer data
wirelessly.

ability to perform the following:
Search (1) - Search for enabled
Bluetooth EDL devices within range.

Pair (2) - Create a Bluetooth Pairing


between the machine and the selected

before a live connection can be
established.

Test Signal Strength (3) - Test the


Bluetooth wireless signal strength of
the selected Bluetooth EDL device. A
signal strength that is too weak or too
strong may not be able to support a
readings connection.

The Readings Data Point Search
provides the following functionality:
Search (1) - The user can search the
list of all connected Data Points by
typing either the full or partial Data
Point name into the Data Point Name
edit box and pressing the Search
button.

Locate (2) - When an item in the Data


Point search results list is selected,
pressing the Locate button will find
and highlight the location of this data
point under the readings shortcut bar.
Add (3) - Use to add selected Data
Point to the readings view.

There are 2 types of Data
Point Templates:
Pre-Defined
Dealer Defined

Pre-Defined Templates
are predetermined data points
within Service ADVISOR and
cannot be modified. A predefined
template can be used as a base to
create a Dealer defined template.

Double click on the data
point to display an
additional chart tab.

chart of an active data

point over time.
