Session Title: Adopt and Adapt

Description:
This session provides opportunity for CPs to
explore the Teachers Module Book 2 to select
and adapt/adopt activities for the three different
levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced.
Training Outcomes:
By the end of this session, CPs will be able to:
identify activities according to the levels: beginner,
intermediate and advanced;
adapt activities for use with different levels of ability.

Time: 120 minutes

Resources: Poster sheets, A4 coloured papers,
manila papers, marker pens (assorted colours)

Activity 1: Select and Identify

Procedure
Show a sample of an activity taken from the Teachers Module Book 2
for the 3 different levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced.
Lead CPs to suggest how these activities need to be adapted or
modified accordingly.
Invite CPs to demonstrate adaptation or modification of the selected
activities.
Encourage others to make constructive feedback.
Remind CPs that they should be aware of their pupils ability when
adapting or modifying the activities for use in remedial teaching.
Suggested Instructional Language
Study the Teachers Module. Select an activity that you find
interesting. Now having your pupils in mind:
How would you adapt this activity? Why?
Its too difficult, so Ill make it simpler.
Its suitable for my pupils, so Ill just use it.
Its good for practice, but Ill have to make it a bit more challenging.

So now you must have realised that activities in the module are
pitched at different levels, some easier than the others; some more
difficult. It is therefore important for you to be able to recognise your
pupils ability and adjust accordingly.

Activity 2: Adapt and Modify

Procedure
Inform CPs that they have to explore the Teachers
Module Book 2 and identify activities for 3 different
levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced.
Remind CPs that adaptation and modification is
required when using activities from the module.
Ask CPs to adapt the selected activities accordingly.
Allow time for preparation.
Get CPs to present their work.
Invite feedbacks from everyone in the group.
Trainer gives feedback.

Suggested Instructional Language

What are your comments of these activities?
Is adaptation necessary?
Are you confident of adapting/modifying activities to
meet your pupils needs?

Activity 3: Reflection
Procedure
Distribute reflection grids to CPs.
Give them time to fill up the grids, giving feedback on
what they have learnt, what they are still doubtful/have
questions, and what they would like to learn more.
Encourage them to give constructive comments for
improvement.

Suggested Instructional Language

Well, we have come to the end of this two-hour session. Fill
