Welcome Remarks
Background
The MDGs goals (8), targets (18 originally and revised to 21),
and indicators (48 originally and revised to 60) were set in
2000 to be attained by 2015.
However, during MDGs +10 Summit (2010) mixed results were
reported for MDGs, across and within regions and countries.
It became obvious that ALL DEVELOPING countries WILL NOT
attain ALL the MDGs and targets by 2015.
In Kenya, the current MDGs status report (2013) indicates
mixed progress with good progress in some goals while others
are lagging behind.
By 2014, the Government in collaboration with the UN system
developed the MDGs Acceleration Framework and Action Plan,
which identified lagging MDGs as Maternal (Goal 5) and
Neonatal (Goal 4) Health as two critical lagging MDGs in
Kenya.
Background
(contd)
Domestication of the SDGs into national and subnational contexts and development blueprints.
Mapping of all relevant stakeholders for the
domestication and implementation of the SDGs at
the national and county levels.
Costing of the SDGs at both national and county
levels
The generation of timely and reliable
disaggregated data to inform effective
development planning and management.
Establishment of a robust and integrated
monitoring and evaluation system, which must be
an integral part of the domestication process.
