Step 1: RESPOND TO THE FOCUS QUESTIONS
1.What does the division look like six years from
now?
2.Where are the stakeholders of the Division we
have created (six year from now?)
3.What is the unique contribution of the Division to
the province?
4.How does the Division handle good time?
5.What is the role of the Division in the community?
6.In what ways is the Division a great place to work
with?

Step 2: FACILITATE
UNDERSTANDING AND
AGREEMENT ON THE
VISION ELEMENTS
Come up with an
understanding and
agreement on the ideas
written on the metacards.

Step 3: CLUSTER AND TITLE COMMON VISION ELEMENTS

Group common responses


together and title the
vision elements.
Ensure that the title
captures the essence of
the clustered metacards.

Step 4: CONSIDER THE


STAKEHOLDERS PERCEPTION
As we are moving towards coming up with a
shared vision, it maybe wise to consider the
stake holders vision for the division office.
Open the brown envelops, coming from the
district offices, marked Stakeholders
Perception-Division Vision Elements. This
envelop contains the perceived vision
integrate stakeholders.
Integrate stakeholders perceptions with the
DPCs own vision elements.

Step 5: RECLUSTER AND TITLE


VISION ELEMENTS

After considering the


stakeholders perception and
that of the committee, the
DPC may wish to recluster
and re-title vision elements.

Step 6: WRITE THE VISION


ELEMENTS IN A NARRATIVE

The DPC may decide to from a


styling committee to write the
identified vision elements into a
statement.
The vision statement should be
written in the present tense.

Step 7: UPDATE THE STATEMENT


Review the statement for validity and
completeness.
Ensure that the styling committee
has vision elements identified by the
group.
It maybe necessary to present the
output to stakeholders for validation
through consultation at the end of
this phase.

Who are our primary clients?
Who sets us apart from other
organizations/division?
What are our core competencies?

agreement on the ideas written
on the metacard.

Thereafter, name the


cluster. Be sure that the
name captures the
essence of the cluster.

Step 5: WRITE THE MISSION

The division may decide


to
form
a
styling
committee to write the
mission elements into the
mission statement.

Step 6: VALIDATE THE


STATEMENT
Review the statements for
validity and completeness.
Ensure that the styling
committee captures the
output to division
stakeholders for validation
at the end of this phase.

Using the validated vision
statement, underline the
critical words and phrases of
the vision statement. Number
each element.

7. Individuals who are responsive to the needs
of the community

Using validated mission statement,


underline the critical words and
phrases of the statement
To provide unlimited access to the
quality relevant education through
the curriculum for the youths total
intellectual,
emotional,
psychological, moral, spiritual and
environmental awareness through a
cadre of highly competent teachers

Step 3: CHECK FOR


CONSISTENCY
Check the alignment for the
vision and mission statements.
Match the mission and vision
elements.
The numbers reflected in the
demonstration examples are the
assigned numbers of the vision
elements.

In testing the formulated vision the
following questions must be
answered with YES or NO.

1. Does the vision statement capture


the fundamental beliefs and values
of the division?
2. Was the styling committee able to
capture
the
vision
elements
identified during the workshop in
the statement?

3. Does the vision provide a clear


direction for the division?
4. Is the vision written in the
present tense?
5. Is the vision written as an
end and not as a process?
6. Is
the
vision
statement
inspiring and challenging?

7. Is the vision statement brief


enough to be memorable?
8. Does the vision statement give
meaning to what we are doing?
9.Does the vision statement capture
our imagination; encourage our
spirits and inspire our performance
as members?

MISSION STATEMENT
CHECKLIST
In testing the formulated mission the
following questions must be answered
with YES or NO.
1. What was the styling committee able to
capture the mission elements indentified
during the workshop in the statement?
2. Does the mission statement reflect the
fundamental beliefs and values of your
division?

4. Is the mission statement


aligned to the vision?
5. Does the mission statement
clearly state what business
you are in?
6. Is the mission statement
broad enough that all staff
in the division can see how
they can contribute?

7. Does the mission statement


answer what and for whom
we do what we do?
8. Does the mission statement
convey the unique qualities
of the division?
