About Silver Spark

Silvers spark Apparel Ltd,a Raymond group

company,has opened its manufacturing facility at
doddaballapur,near Bangalore.The commissioning of the Silver
Spark Apparel plant will mark Raymond Groups into the global
apparel outsourcing market.This particular unit in Bangalore is
dadicated to manufacturing suits and formal trousers. Silvers
Spark will also scout for new customers beside existing ones
from Raymonds. Set up at cost of Rs 42.5 crore,nearly 80 per
cent of suits and trousers manufactured in this facility will be
exported .Currently in this unit capacity is nearly 750000
jacket, 1000000 trouser,52500 waist coats per annum .The
setting -up of this unit is the first step towards bridging the
value chain between manufacturing of fabric and export
garments.With a total built-up area of 2 lakh sq.ft, the new
facility houses specially imported state-of-the-art
manufacturing equipment. The specialty of the plant is the
superior construction of the jacket which will be in line with
Italian and Japanese quality levels.

What is merchandising?

Merchandising is a process of creating

merchandise based on a particular market
demand.
The merchandising department is the central
coordinating point between all departments.
The merchandisers are involved from origin of
the garment to its shipment.

Merchandising process
involves:
Studing the fashion forecast along with the designer.
Collecting the information about the buyers and
their profile.
Gaining approvals from the buyer at different stage
of production.
Costing and pricing of the garments .
Shipment of goods.

Roles and Responsiblities of

merchandiser:

Buyers contact and communication.

Objects of merchandiser:
Merchandising denotes all the planned
activities to execute and dispatch the merchandise
on time ,taking into consideration of 5 Rs to
replenish the customer.

Sampling :

Sample is a specimen or example of required

product. A sample
represents the
manufacturers mistake, this stage may lead to
cancellation of order booked.
The buyer wants to know whether the
company is capable of producing the garment with
desired style ,once the style is received sampling should
be done. Buyer may ask many changes throughout the
process.

PO sheet
A purchase order is a commercial
document and first official offer issued by a buyer
to a merchandiser,indicating types,quantities and
agreed prices for product ,shipment . Acceptance
of PO by merchandiser forms a contract between
the buyer and merchandiser.

BOM Sheet
A bill of material is a sheet which
include list of all the parts or components,
raw material that are required to build a
product.In BOM
color,supplier,consumption,waste%,total
quantity required of material is
mentioned. It is useful for production
,material planning,product costing,issue
the items from store .

Tech pack
A tech pack is an informative sheet
that designers create to communicate
with a manufacturer which contain all
necessary information needed to
construct a product.Designer will include
measurements
,material,colors,trim,labels,tags etc.To
make a sample with minimum error tech
pack is necessary.

Trims
Types of trims:
1. Sewing trims :The trims which are used while
stitching
eg.Sewing thread,labels,waistband,hook and
bar,zipper and slider,buttons,heeling tape,fusing
tape
buckle etc.
2. Packing trims :Trims which are used while
packing the goods.
eg.poly bag,barcode sticker,string, hang
tag,button pouch etc.

TESTING
In garment and textile testing, GPT stands for Garment
Package Test and FPT stands for Fabric Package Test.

Each buyer set guidelines for what all tests are mandatory
at fabric stage and subsequent in garment stage. Buyers
send this package tests list to their nominated testing labs.
Prior to bulk production buyers asked for FPT and GPT test
report from their vendors for production approval. Garment
manufacturer then sends sample (fabric or garment) to the
testing labs for FPT and GPT. Once garment manufacturer
mentioned for FPT or GPT, testing lab perform all test
according to the buyer test manual. In this package test
garment manufacturer do not need to specify any test to
the testing lab. Pricing of FPT and GPT is done based on the
tests to be performed as per buyer requirement.
