Security Related Applications

1. Identification and tracking of suspects/criminals/vehicles (blacklist
database) even in a crowded and uncontrolled environment including
tracking on a GIS
2. Create a watch list database for anyone who acts suspiciously such as
Abandoned Object, loitering/tailgating, trespassing, vandalism
3. Understand Crowd behaviors (running crowds, crowd formed / or
dispersed suddenly);
4. Understand the traffic flows and distribution of people/vehicles during
emergency to help with the evacuation
5. Recognition of fighting or dangerous behaviors by using a combination
of video and sound analytics.
6. Driver match to heighten the security for highly secured environments;
prevent any Illegal Parking outside important infrastructure / iconic site
7. Vandalism and Smoke and Fire Detection and recognize the culprits

8. Protect bridges and other critical infrastructure

9. Sound Analytics for gunshot / screaming sounds / glass breaking
etc
10. Smell Analytics for hazardous chemicals
11. Surveillance system health check to prevent camera tampering or
sabotage

Sample Use Cases

Use Case Examples

Recognise the plate and car profile of any cars that have
violated the traffic regulations such as speeding, illegal lane
crossing (U turn), vehicle stopped and accidents.
Understand traffic flow during different times of the day and
can be broken down by the type of users (the type of
vehicles). This data can be used to improve the road
condition such as to divert traffic before it gets congested.
Recognise the plate and car profile of any cars that have
violated the traffic regulations such as red light violation,
vehicle stopped at the yellow box, illegal lane use (change
lane when there is double solid line; turn on a no u-turn lane;
go straight on a left turn lane)
Understand the traffic flow information of both pedestrian
and vehicles; gather the near misses data etc to improve the
traffic light frequency as well as the road safety
Recognise person of interests using Facial Recognition in a
Crowd;

Benefits
Law enforcement
Road safety

Recognise suspicious behaviours and enrol these faces into

the watch list database and track them around
Recognise the plate and car profile of any cars that have
violated the traffic regulations such as vehicle
stopped/accidents; fallen objects
Alert for any bicycles and pedestrian in the tunnel
Detect Average Speed

Security

Detect smoke and fire

Counting and demographics to obtain relevant marketing data
Queue Management to understand the average waiting time for each queue and to alert including drive-in
management for opening additional service counters during the busy hours
Surveillance system health check to prevent camera tampering and sabotage
Safety
Detecting if someone is lingering or stationing at the ATM area for a longer period of time (e.g. beggar sleeping
inside the ATM area)
Detection of vigilance and person of interest using Facial Recognition in a crowd
Detection of water spills

ATM Theft

Theft from ATM skimming is approaching $1 billion annually

Tampering occurs in various ways
Detection of tampering is difficult

Complex Use Cases

An accident is detected on Prompt
the CCTV camera
at a road junction. It highlights that
Response
there is a fire in one of the vehicles. The video of the accident scene and its
location is automatically sent by the system to the nearest Fire Brigade and also
to the nearest Police vehicle.

The latest accident highlights Predictive

that this was a dangerous
Tool junction. The system can
analyze all the near misses that have occurred in that area over the last month,
providing the road traffic management team the information necessary to
develop strategies for mitigating the problem.

Big Data Analysis

Patterns of correlations between weather data, nearby major event and incidents
(for example) can show possible cause of incidents.
