Standard for AWS Certification of Welding Inspectors
- establishes the requirements for AWS Certification of
welding inspection personnel.
- it describes how the personnel are certified , and the
principles of conduct and practice by which certification
may be maintained.
AWS B5.1
Specification for the Qualification of Welding Inspectors
- establishes the requirements for qualification and defines
the body of knowledge for welding inspection personnel.
- it describes the welding inspection capabilities based on
qualification level .

Programme

SNT-TC-1A
- this document describes the recommended
procedures for certifying inspectors performing
nondestructive testing in accordance to ASNT
(American Society for Nondestructive Testing standards
for Level I, II, and III

AWS QC1
- standard for AWS Certification of Welding Inspectors in
three levels:
SCWI person with at least 15 years experience
including 6 years experience while certified as a CWI.
CWI person with at least 5 years experience for high
school graduate. Up to 2 years of work experience can
be substituted by post high school educational
experience.
CAWI subordinate level of qualification which
requires fewer years of experience for each
educational level.

provided measuring tools and evaluation in accordance to supplied

- consists of 60 questions on the code (from the list below)
the individual has selected for this part of the examination.

AWS D15.1 Railroad Welding Specification Cars and
Locomotives

EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS FOR CWI

To successfully complete the examination, individual must
pass all three parts of the test. A candidate must obtained a
minimum grade of 72% on each type of examination.
CWI Passing score : 72%
CAWI Passing score : 60%
