"Levels of water-soluble P2O5 in

fertilizer TSP"

Objective Determination:
To determine levels of P2O5
contained in the TSP.
Basic Principle:
Sample precipitated by the
addition of NH4Cl NH4OH, then
anneal.

Phosphorus is one of the macro nutrients are

essential for plant growth and development .
function of phosphorus

transport of energy metabolism in plants

stimulate flowering and fruiting
stimulate root growth
stimulate the formation of seed
stimulate plant cell division and enlarge the network of
plant cells

Effect of Phosphorus Availability

Phosphorus is simply referred to as P2O5 are extracted or

dissolved in water and citric acid which then affect many things,
among others, related to soil pH, the presence of Al, Fe, and
Casoluble, and organic matter in soil

From the properties of the element phosphorus as organic

material then this element has a very essential role of money in
the fertility of the soil in which the intake of nutrients from organic
matter formed couples raising soil nutrient levels in achieving
optimum fertility intensity

Tools and Materials

Digital Balance
Spatula
glass cup 300 mL
spray bottle
Hot plate
penyanga funnel
filter paper
Mixer
glass measuring 10
mL
Pipette
Grail
Furnaces

Eksikator
iron tweezers
Gauze Materials:
Distilled
TSP Fertilizer
2 M NH4Cl solution
The solution was a mixture of
magnesia
1:1 solution HCll
PP Indicator
NH4OH solution (1:10)
NH4OH solution (1:20)

How it Works:
The several stages of the workings of doing "Determination of Levels
of water-soluble P2O5 in fertilizer TSP" are as follows:
1. Preparing a tool to be used, cleaned, and dried,
2. Considering the example as much as 1 gram of oil by using paper
3. Entering sample weighed into a glass cup, then add 100 ml of
water.
4. Heating the solution, filter, and the precipitate was washed with 3
10 mL of distilled water.
5. Filtrate collected and spiked with 10 mL of 2 M NH4Cl and 10 mL of
a mixture of magnesia, and then added as much as 1 mL of 1:1
HCl.
6. Adding 2-3 drops of indicator PP, then precipitate with NH4OH
(1:10) excess.
7. Precipitate was allowed to stand for 30 minutes, then filtered and
washed with NH4OH (1:20) 3 until free of chloride.
8. Precipitate was dried on a hot plate for 30 minutes, then dipijarkan
dlam furnace temperature for 2 hours (800-900) C.
9. Cooling in eksikator and weigh.
10. Calculating the data analysis results.

Observations:

Weight of sample
= 1.0070 g
The weight of an empty cup
= 19.0629 g
Weight of dish + ash after dipijarkan =19.4773 g
Weight of ash: (19.4773 to 19.0629) g = 0.4144 g

Discussion:

As is known, the quality requirements TSP levels one of which

is water-soluble P2O5 contained in the TSP, ranging from a
minimum of 40%. But on top of the lab, it was found that the
levels of water-soluble P2O5 contained in the TSP is only at
26.33%. Chances are, there is still a TSP fertilizer P2O5 in the
sample is not soluble in water. Possible error occurs because:
o The existence of weights sediment runoff or lost during
processing.
o Dissolution example with water that is not perfect.

Conclusion:

From the experimental results, it can be concluded that the levels

of P2O5 contained in the TSP is 26.33%
