Assignment Brief Preparation


Step 1: Detail analysis of content from approved specification
Step 2: Careful consideration of assessment criteria across different courses
Step 3: Decide assessment strategy (including identification of relevant assessment
instruments against learning outcomes). No. of assignment/ exam is not fixed.
Step 4: Understanding the link between task and assessment criteria
Step 5: Careful analysis of merit and distinction descriptors against unit specification
and assessment criteria
Step 6: Determination of grades across different assessment
Step 7: Exercise contextualization of assessment criteria
Step 8: Drafting Assignment brief (cover page, feedback page, comments/feedback
section, contextualizing grading descriptors, background preparation etc.)
Step 9: Reviewing the assignment brief

Assessment Instruments
5 Important strategies in preparing brief to prevent plagiarism and to ensure
better learning experience
1)
If appropriate, one Learning Outcomes can be assessed via oral test /
viva
2)
If relevant, one Learning Outcomes can be assessed via visual
presentation (individual) including both PowerPoint slides and
presentation notes as assessment evidence. However, for quantitative
units either oral test or presentation can be considered.
3)
For written unseen exams requiring calculation, every cohort and every
batch should be assessed via new set of question/case. However,
qualitative questions can be kept same across different batches

Written assignment and written reports should be changed for cohorts.
Different cases for same learning outcome or new case for different
learning outcome should be used for written report.
5)
For quantitative learning outcomes, minimum one hand-written exercises
should be included to ensure comprehensive learning. However,
assessment decision, in this form of assessment, should be reached after
conducting oral interview or impromptu Q&A session with the learner.

Rule 1: For each unit students can appear in exam or
submit assignment and finally pass if and if he has min.

Rule 2: For each unit students, students will be allowed one
retake or re-submission. For re-do Students will get
different assessment (new-written question, viva,
presentation, report, etc.) irrespective of original
assessment
Rule 3: However, teachers may at his own discretion allow
maximum two assignments/exams provided he has
minimum 80% attendance. Please note that teacher may
not do this favour to in-disciplined and inattentive student.

Rule 4: Any form of plagiarism or fraudulent activities in
report/ presentation / exams can result in temporary or
permanent termination from the course.
Rule 5: All re-exams and re-submission will take place after
the end of semester and after calculating attendance.
Rule 6: Late entry (that is, entry after 10 minutes from
schedule) will not earn attendance. Students may be
allowed in the class after 10 minutes though

Rule 7: Absence in exams and failure to submit assignment
will be considered as fail.
Rule 8: Assignments can also be submitted in class
schedule to the teacher only.
Rule 9: Students will be given back the unit file with exam/
assignment result and feedback. It is responsibility of the
students to keep the file in secure place until end of
semester when files will be called back for external
verification and internal verification.
Rule 10: BiMS and edexcel-UK reserve the right to add,
change, include, and/or modify any of rules for Fall 2008
Semester

Rule 11: Teachers should refrain from gibat

or provide advice without proper evidence about anything
Rule 13: Teachers should put entry of grades in attendance sheet
and central record khata kept with programme leader
Rule 14: Teachers should make sure availability of question papers
or assignment at least 2 days before the assignment or exam date.
Rule 15: Teachers should only receive assignment or report in class.
Rule 16: Teachers should immediately check script and handover
file with script/paper to the student only in the class.
Rule 17: Teacher should announce notices of exam or assignment
or notice board though notice board as well.
