Types of Data transmission
Error -checking methods :
1) Parity checking
2) Checksum
)These both are methods used to check whether
data has been changed or corrupted during the
data transmission

What are Input devices ?

aninput deviceis a peripheral (piece of computer
hardware equipment) used to provide data and
control signals to an information processing
system such as a computer or information
appliance. Examples ofinput devicesinclude
keyboards, mice, scanners, digital cameras and
joysticks.

What are output devices ?

Anoutput deviceis any piece of computer
hardware equipment used to communicate the
results of data processing carried out by an
information processing system (such as a
computer) which converts the electronically
generated information into human-readable form.

Types of Data
transmission
1- Simplex Mode
In simplex mode, data can flow in only one direction. In this mode,

a sender can only send data and cannot receive it. Similarly, a
receiver can only receive data but cannot send it. Data sent from
computer to printer is an example of simplex mode

Half-Duplex Mode

In half-duplex mode, data can flow in both directions but only in

one direction at a time. In this mode, data is sent and received

alternatively. It is like a one-lane bridge where two-way traffic must
give way in order to cross the other.
3- Full-Duplex Mode
In full duplex-mode, data can flow in both directions at the same

time. It is the fastest directional mode of data communication. The

telephone communication system is an example of full-duplex

MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital

Interface)
It is associated with storage of music files
It is not a music and do not contain any
sound
It is communication protocol that allows
electronic musical instrument to interact
with each other
MIDI consist of list of commands that
instruct a device

JPEG
Joint photographic expert
group is one of the file
format. It is used with
high quality images
File extension is .jpg

MP3 and MP4

MP3

MP4

It contains only audio files that

can be compressed and stored

It contains audio, video and

other types of image

File extension is .mp3

File extension is .mp4

Compatible in any devices

Compatible with some devices .
