Role Of Instrumentation & Control:

To provide the services to maintain the equipment & systems in order and
their safe operations by application of field mounted protective devices such
as sensors e.g Pressure, Temperature, Level switches & transmitters etc.
INSTRUMENTATION
Instrumentation is a technique which is used to operate / control any system
automatically by means of collective/ integrated action of Instruments.
WHY WE USE INSTRUMENTATION:
For System Safety.
Any system / Process operation can be performed manually, but operator
can make a mistake due to human error. However Automatic controlled
system due to built-in control logic / interlocking ensure the system
operation in safe manner.
TYPES OF CONTROLS:
Open Loop Control (Without Feedback)
Close Loop Control (With Feedback)

Definition of Instrument:
Instrument is a device which is used to determine the
quality / quantity of any Substance or Material.
Types of Instruments:
1. Analytical Instruments
1.1 Laboratory Equipments
1.2 Analyzers
1.3 Hydrometer
1.4 PH. Measurement etc.

Pumping Station Control Philosophy

In Case of Low Suction Pressure:
As per given set parameters controller performs its function accordingly.
Suction pressure should not be less than its set pressure SV-1. If it decreases further,
as per logical function PCV should start its closure to maintain the suction pressure
MV1. If controller fails to maintain the suction pressure MV-1, the station Low Suction
Pressure alarm will be appeared at 2.5 Kg/cm2 resulting in Station Shutdown (SSD).
In Case of High Discharge Pressure:
As per given set parameters controller performs its function accordingly.
High discharge pressure MV-2 should not be greater that its set pressure SV-2. If it
increases further, as per logical function PCV should starts its closure to control /
maintain the discharge pressure MV-2. If controller fails to maintain the discharge
pressure MV-2 the High Discharge Pressure alarm will be appeared resulting in Station
Shutdown (SSD).
