INTRODUCTION
Hans Selye was one of the founding fathers of stress research
His view in 1956 was that stress is not necessarily something bad it all depends
on how you take it.
Stress is now viewed as a "bad thing", with a range of harmful biochemical and
long-term effects.
Well-designed, organized and managed work is good for us but when insufficient
attention to job design, work organization and management has taken place, it can
result in Work related stress.

DEFINITION
According to Richard S Lazarus, Stress is a condition or feeling experienced
when a person perceives that demands exceed the personal and social resources the
individual is able to mobilize.

Workplace stress can be defined as the change in ones physical or mental


state in response to workplaces that pose an appraised challenge or threat to
that employee.
