Introduction

Title: The study of factors that lead to plagiarism among students in

Uitm Kota Samarahan.

Problem statement: According to Derby (2008), plagiarism issue are

closely related with the academic performance on university students
due to the availability of internet. Another research had established by
Scanlon (2013) proved that plagiarism among college students is due to
lack of competencies in writing skills. Apart from that, majority of
respondent said plagiarism also caused by time management and attitude
of the students itself. However, there is a limited study that focus on
factors of plagiarisms among student in Uitm Kota Samarahan.

Significance of the study.

Why the study is important?
1.This study is useful to create the understanding
regarding the factors of plagiarism in the context of
academic work.

- This study contribute knowledge and can
create awareness about the plagiarism to the
public.

This study indicates about plagiarism can affect
the institutions reputation.

This study help the students to aware about
the plagiarism is a form of academic

Statement of Purpose:

The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that lead to

plagiarism among students in Uitm Kota Samarahan. This issue is
strongly link with the students in university level. Toward the end,
this study will show the factors of plagiarism that specifically among
student in UiTM Kota Samarahan.

Scope Of The Study

The coverage of research

This study focuses on the main factors that contribute to plagiarism among students in
UiTM Kota Samarahan .

The research will be conducted in 4 months

The students in Uitm Kota Samarahan will be randomly selected to become the
respondents for this study.

The data are obtained from questionnaire

A set of question was given to each students which the respondents will have to answer
accordingly.

Scope Of the Study

Few limitations was recognised for this research.

Quantitative data collected through questionnaire did not show in depth information
needed for this research. Compared to interviews, the depth of raw data collected from
questionnaires are often inadequate.

The respondents selected is only from UiTM Samarahan and the results of this findings
should not be taken generally to represent whole students from other institutions.

Variable: This study will be conducted by using the plagiarism as the dependent
variable and was measured with the independent variables which includes time
management, lack of writing skills, availability of internet and the institution
policy.

Methodology

The data was collected from questionnaire. Questionnaire is an

example primary sources of data.

Questionnaire are design with questions that related to this study

and it was distributed randomly to 50 students in Uitm Kota
Samarahan.

Apart from that, the data from questionnaire were generated through
SPSS version 21 application to analyse the data.
