for opening, saving and printing your
drawing/s. (file drop down menu)
Quick Access Toolbar - most frequency
used command inside Application menu.
(shorcut)
Title Bar - Analogous to the title bar in any
window program. It cointains the software
name, title of current drawing

Ribbon - Below the title bar, it is the launch pad for

every command used in AutoCAD
File Tabs - Provided as visual method to quickly
swithc open drawing or to create drawing
Drawing Area - Black middle section that is virtually
infinite plane
Cursor - called as Crosshairs, navigate precisely to
compost your design
View Cube - Primarily used to navigate 3D drawings,
contains 26 predefined view orientation

In-canvas viewport control - provide a quick and

convient way to chage "Current view", "Visual
style" and "Viewport configuration"
Navigation bar - Provide access to several
unbiversal and product specific navigation tools
UCS (User coordinate system) - positive
coordinate for the X, Y, Z axes
Command line - Primary method for interacting w/
AutoCAD, displays history of previos actions

Layout Tabs - consist of model tabs anf any number

of layout tabs.
Model tabs - represents your drawing
Layout Tabs - Represents the piec of paper used to
document your drawing

Status bar - managung your interface

First activity
Workspace shifting tool from status bar
from Default "Drafting and Annotation"
to "AutoCAD classic" and back to default "Drafting
anf Annotation"
Command line : WSCURRENT

Second activity
How to adjust your canvass
Drawing area in the center of the screen is an infinite
canvass
View controls tool In-canvass viewport controls
select "TOP OPTION"
IMPORTANCE : To ensure that your drawing is
perpendicular to the drawing area
Visual style control
List of visual styles

Third activity
Choosing your own drawing area
background color .
Default mode - "dark gray"
Command line - "OP"
Application menu Options Display
tab colors button

Command line interface - primary method

of interacting with AutoCAD
One golden rule in AutoCAD

Command line has "Auto complete feature"
meaning even if you type common words
you will be given a selection of commands

Understanding status bar

Grid display - Displaying graph paper like,
including non-plotting horizontal and
vertical lines in the drawing background
Snap mode - Restricting movement of the
cursor indide the drawing area to specified
intervals
Ortho mode - Restrict movement of the
cursor to 90 intervals
Isometric drawing - Aligns cursor to sketch
3D representaion of objects on a 2D plane

Object snap tracking - Advance drafting

tool that allows yoy to draw object with
specific geometric relationships to other
objects within your drawing
Object snap - Helps you draw objects based
on geometric reference point like end point,
mid point, intersection. Used to create
accurate drawing
