1. Cam ramp engages
with the ramp surface
of the gear.
2. If the predetermined
torque is applied to the
cam plate, it ramps up
over the cam profile of
the side gear. It leads
to axial movement of
the cam plate away
fromsymmetrical
the side gear.
In both direction of rotation of the cam, the
profile
of ramp helps to have axial movement of cam plate in only one
direction.

Main shaft RPM < 100 :- Centrifugal force on the weight is balanced
by torsion spring
Main shaft RPM > 100 :- Centrifugal force exceeds spring force & the
balance weights gets moves away from each other it gets arrested by
locking pawl.
The locking action is possible in clock wise as well as counter

Advantages:1. Automatic locking & supplies equal torque to both wheel only at
low speed of vehicle.
2. The Differential G.B. can be designed with highest bias ratio as it
is not going to lock at high speed.
3. Even 4x2 vehicle with this differential develops greater traction if
compared with 4x4 with simple LSD.
Disadvantages:Cost, Number of moving parts hence maintenance cost little bit
higher.
