Old Vision
It is the mission of the Mamaroneck School District to promote intellectual engagement
and an appreciation of learning as an inherently rewarding activity, to help prepare
students to function as responsible citizens, and to prepare students to live in a
multicultural world. As a district, we strive to promote a culture of learning defined by
excellent teaching, student engagement, and a breadth and depth of vibrant, relevant
programs.

Reasons for Change

With a large growing population of ELL students at Mamaroneck Avenue
School, we want our parents to be involved in their children's learning so
that the students can get the same support at home as they get in school.
To create an academic culture that supports 100% parental involvement,
which in return will lead to our students to be more academically
successful as well as help parents feel more confident and involved in their
children's learning.
The oppressors do not favor promoting the community as a whole, but rather selected leaders. Paulo Friere

The Highlight of the NEW VISION

As a school, we value the importance of a strong home to school connection. It is
imperative to think of unique ways to promote a strong partnership with parents and
the surrounding community at large. Grade levels will not only find ways to get
parents into the classroom to experience learning, but it is the school's objective to
engage the surrounding community, including small businesses and the local
government. Our school prides itself on being a family and community centered
institution in which parents are encouraged to participate in school events during the
day, in the evening and on weekends.
