Work Toward a Shared Goal

Everyone works toward a shared goal
Goal sharing means buy-in, not announcing.
Trust and putting team members first lead to
support for goals
The manager sets critical goals. The team sets the
rest
Goals are maker that posts you drive into the
future landscape between where you are and
where you want to be. They focus attention
productively.

The Organization
1. To be honest with employees
2. Put the employees well-being first
3. Respect everyones right to work
4. Let all people set their own goals

Values
Values guide all plans, decisions and actions
(Social Value)
. . . Most any job has social valuebe it digging
ditches, answering telephones, designing golf courses,
or manufacturing wire baskets. Once people begin to
see their work clearly, big things begin to happen.
Bashing a chunk of metal and grinding it into
conformity with an engineering drawing is one thing.
Making a part for a brake on a childs bicycle is
entirely different . . . Mess up the first and youre off
spec. Mess up the second and you might break a
childs leg or worse.

Social Values
People must
understand that
their job is
meaningful and
adds value to an
organization and
society

Some people may not

feel their job is
important, but getting
them to understand that
they are responsible for
part of the bigger
picture gives them
motivation
