Introduction
Visible
light
communication (VLC) is
a data communications
medium which uses
visible light between
400 and 800 THz (780
375 nm). VLC is a
subset
of
optical
wireless
communications
technologies.
HISTORY OF ENTERTAINMENT
LIGHTING CONTROL NETWORKS POST
WORLD WAR II
The earliest electric lighting control systems used manually
operated resistance or autotransformer dimmers.
After World War II allowed the dimmers to be remotely
controlled.
From the 1950s until the 1980s generally used analog
signals to control the dimmers, with each dimmer requiring
a dedicated control wire to carry its signal.
By the 1980s, a DC factor standard of 0 to 10 volts DC
positive, with the controller supplying the current, 3

LIGHTING CONTROL NETWORKS POST
WORLD WAR II
By the mid-1980s, it was possible to multiplex the control
signals and send them over control cables having only
three to five conductors.
In 1986 the United States Institute for Theatre Technology
(USITT) published two standards for multiplexed signal
control of stage and studio dimmers: AMX192 and
DMX512.
In 1998, USITT transferred the maintenance of the standard
to the Entertainment Services and Technology Association
