Pantaloon Parade is one of the leading retail


brand in India
They have a chain of garments and fashion
accessories outlets in different cities
They are facing problem of attrition in some of
their store in Bangalore.
To solve this problem they have developed a
radical
recruitment
process
compared
to
traditional hiring process.

NEW RECRUITMENT
PROCESS
A centralized electronic hiring process replaced 400 store
managers.
The company interviews and hires people over telephone from its
headquarters
It involves following step:Step 1
The applicants fill an application for the store where they wish to
work and submit the application to the manager.
Step 2:If the application is found to be consistent, then store manager
gives a toll free number to call for an interview. They have to
answer in yes and no

Step 3:Answer are entered in the computer records response and the time taken in
responding to the question
Step 4:Interviews at the corporate office evaluate the records and design a set of
question for a follow up line interview in which applicant gets a chance to
explain his answer and reasons for his choice
Step 5:The interviewers are trained to interpret the response behavior that
includes pause, change of tone, and speech pattern

This methods has reduced the retails sales force turnover substantially.

Yes , I think Pantaloon Parades new hiring process is more reliable for
recruiting qualified retails sales force than the store managers methods
of interview due to following reasons

It remove biasness of store manager towards any candidate


If the application is found to be consistent, then store manager gives a

Everything is analyzed about the candidate like pause, change of tone,
and speech pattern
Based on this process the probability of recruiting qualified retails sales
force is more compare to paper and pencil methods of honesty tests

For the first time it may feel little odd but as it is a
voice mail and you have to answer in yes and no, so I
think everyone is comfortable with that

passed over by electronic process as:-The whole system is designed in such way that at
every stage of recruitment filtration is done and only
those candidate are selected who passes all the stage.

How much has an electronic hiring system


changed the role of sales managers. Do you
thinks this change is better? If so, why?
I think this change is better due to following reason: The sales manger are not involved in the recruitment
of retail sales staff.

So, now store manager can focus more on store like
-Ensures maximum profitability for his store
