INTRODUCTION
Section 30 OSHA 1994 stipulate that SHC should be established(pg
203):
Come into force on 1 January 1997
40 or more persons employed at workplace.
Directed by Director General.
The main objective of SHC are to develop safety, health and welfare
of employee, develop the rules & safe system of work and to advice
the employees on work process also review the report to make it more
effective. Safety and Health Committees provide away for
management and workers to meet regularly to discuss workplace
health and safety issues. They are an important way to bring together
workers practical knowledge of jobs and managements overview of
the workplace and work organization.
DUTY OF AN EMPLOYER
To comply with Parts II (Composition of SHC) and Parts
MEMBERSHIP OF COMMITTEE
a chairman (1)
a secretary (1)
representatives of employer (2 or 4)
representatives of employees (2 or 4)
If there is more than 100 workers there should be 4

EMPLOYER REPRESENTATIVES-
appointed by employer
EMPLOYEES REPRESENTATIVESselected by workers or appointed by employer
Note: Employer shall not penalize a member of the a
member of the committee in any manner for being absent
from his normal duties at work while carrying while
