ENERGY SAVER FOR

COLLEGE CAMPUS

OBJECTIVE:
The main objective of this project is to design
a project for power saving in college campus

BLOCK DIAGRAM:

IR SENSOR:
A InfraRed sensor (IR sensor) is an
electronic device that measures INFRARED
(IR) light radiating from objects in its field of
view.
This sensor have a two different parts:
i)IR TRANSMITTER
ii)IR RECEIVERS

Infrared transmitter is one type of LED which

emits infrared rays generally called as IR
Transmitter.
Similarly IR Receiver is used to receive the IR
rays transmitted by the IR transmitter.

SCU:
SIGNAL CONDITIONING UNIT (SCU):
which is the Signal Conditioning Unit, The
Signal Conditioning Unit is nothing but a
comparator which compares the input signal
with the reference voltage

555 TIMER:
The 555
timer
IC is
an integrated
circuit (chip) used in a variety of timer, pulse
generation, and oscillator applications. The
555 can be used to provide time delays, as
an oscillator, and as a flip-flop element.
Derivatives provide up to four timing circuits
in one package.

DRIVER CIRCUIT:
In electronics, a driver is an electrical circuit
or other electronic component used to control
another circuit or other component, such as a
high-power transistor

RELAY:
A relay is an electrically operated switch.
There is no electrical connection inside the
relay between the two circuits; the link is
magnetic and mechanical.

CIRCUIT DIAGRAM:

WORKING PRINCIPLE:
This project is designed with an IR transmitter
and receiver as the sensor for sensing the coin.
When the person is enter between the
transmitter and the receiver the coin cuts the
IR radiation for a second. When the IR rays
are interrupted the receiver gives the pulse
output to the SCU(comparator). When the
sensor input exceeds the threshold value the
comparator gives a high output.

The output of the comparator is given to the

inverter circuit to invert the pulse from high to
low. The low pulse is given to the 555 timer as
a trigger input and as soon as the trigger is
received by the 555 timer IC the timer gives
the output for a pre-determined time. The
output of the timer is used to activate the relay
for a pre-determined interval.

Whenever the relay is activated the charger

circuit closes and lamp get high voltage and
glows it in maximum voltage level. . After the
period the timer deactivates the relay and the
charging process is disabled. Lamp goes to the
low brightness.

ADVANTAGES:
Simple and hand efficient for usage.
Less Cost to assemble the project
Low power consumption for work.

APPLICATIONS:
This project is very useful in colleges,
industries, complexes etc
