lowest in the world,
and the economy
faces a number of
serious structural
problems.

of GDP and 85% of total
employment. Agricultural

The fragmented political situation

in Ethiopia has stagnated to
repeated clashes between the
government and different groups,
as well as tribes. The border
conflict with Eritrea remains
unsolved and rebel groups in
Somali and other states continue
to destabilise the regions.

There is growing support of the

Muslims in Ethiopia have torched

69 Christian churches, a Bible
school and an orphanage in less
than one month. Not content with
this alone, at least two Christians

because they were Christian. As
the machete-wielding Muslims
warned that more killings would
be coming, thousands of
Christians have fled in fear.

been dominant in their country
since the 4th century, are in a
state of crisis due to the

Positive developments have

come in the form of The
Protestant Church growing (over
17% of the 60% of Christians, in
2011) despite the hostility
experienced from Islam and the
Orthodox Church. In certain
areas there has been revival
with many Orthodox believers
coming to Christ.

Despite its rich past, Ethiopia is

today a poverty-stricken country,
suffering from all the burdens
that this brings such as famine,
illnesses caused by poor
sanitation, high rates of child
mortality and low life expectancy
(58 yrs) as well as political
unrest and religious clashes.

LETS PRAY
Please pray that God will step in
and, by His power, transform the
reality of this country and its
people. That the Ethiopian
Christians will be strengthen and
will give living testimony of His
Glory so that the rest of the
country may know the Hope and
Salvation in Jesus Christ.

LETS PRAY
Pray that the persecutions our fellow
brothers and sisters are suffering will
come to an end and that Muslims and
Christians will be able to live in the
same neighborhood without fear of
being attacked.
Pray that the agriculture-based
economy will be able to resist the
changes in weather and will continue
to grow so they can subsist and export
