Synopsis
Hypothesis A bridge to connect people via technology. A research based on virtual
reality with respect to human interaction.
Proposal An interactive installation that acts a bridge to make a connection between
people via tangible virtual technology. An installation that can be a part of India HCI
2015 conference to be held in IIT Guwahati.

VIRTUALITY
REALITY

Problem Brief
People Conferences have many related activities like workshops,
lectures, meetings, showcasing etc. Too many things happening in
the same time creates chaos in the events and at the venues.
People try to get acquaintance with other people from other fields
(for example India HCI conference). It is difficult to exchange
information among the participants/visitors without the help of
common friend/organizers/volunteers. They have to really search for
people of their interest on list, social media etc.

Information There are lots of information hovering in such

events. People have to look these information on internet, books,
libraries and so on rather than finding the same materials in the
conferences only because of the availability/copyright/patent issues.
Installations These are piece of art that can either make people
interested or leave them in confusion. One might not even bother to
look into it because it is confusing. Need for user friendly and
meaningful interactive installation to engage people rather than
shooing them.
Connections/bridge There is already a lag in information sharing
because of available resources, chaos and lack in data collection.
Accessibility has always been an issue. A bridge is required to
connect one individual with interested another.

Literature Survey
Case Studies + References
1. A Touch of Code (book) interactive installations and experiences
The book is a compilation of some of the best interactive installations exhibited in
the recent past across the globe. Installations from digital to physical media,
projections, space, gestures etc. The book has been divided into five parts depending
upon feedback and experience of the setup: look, touch, explore, engage and
intervene.
2. About Face 3: the essentials of interaction design (book) classification of
processes
The initial part of the book talks about the process and methodology of interaction
design. However, it limits mostly up to interface design.
3. Design I/O (studio) interactive installations, immersive environments
The website showcases some of the interesting interactive setups including web
based, application based, projections like photos of people are being projected on
building faade, motion tracking and physical environments like digital weather.
4. Strukt (studio) interactive installations, events and show design
A Vienna based design studio that specializes in interaction design, visual event
design, motion and graphic design. Some of the work includes an Interactive book
presentation through touch and motion gesture, projection graphics and multi-touch
table installations.
5. India HCI 2014, Delhi (conference) lectures, workshops, interactive installations
