OBJECTIVE
To raise proportion of children of 6-11 age

group actually attending school from the

present figure of 42.3 percent to 60 percent
by 1965.

IMPORTANT POINTS
Primary Education:
1. In west Pakistan,18000 primary
schools will be established . Due to these
enrollment of student in west Pakistan
increases from 36% to 56%.
2. In east Pakistan, 13300 primary
schools will be established . Due to these
enrollment of student in east Pakistan it
increases from 48% percent to 63%.

Secondary Education:
1. It was decided to improve secondary school by bringing
their accommodation , equipment , libraries and teaching
up to specific standard.
2.In east Pakistan 1000 junior high schools , 1600 senior
high school will be established.
3. In west Pakistan 160 high schools will be opened .
103 middle schools will be up graded. Government high
schools will be improved by adding 800 qualified teachers
and 650 classrooms.

4. Craft courses would be introduced in 100 junior

high schools agriculture in 50 senior schools.
Home economics in girls school was also
introduced.

 Teachers Education:

1.

The teacher requirement in 2nd five year

plan was very high. At secondary level 425
graduate and 275 undergraduate teachers will
get specialized knowledge in technical ,
commercial , agriculture or home economics
subjects .
2. In each province provision was made for
training of teachers in primary teaching
institute.

3. In this plan , 20 to 25 training institute

would be established.

HIGHER EDUCATION:

It was decided to encourage and facilitate

research at universities . CHITTAGONG will develop
into university. NUML would be established for
teaching and research of modern languages.

UNIVERSITIES RESEARCH:
University research is essential for universities .
They have duty to develop fundamental research in
scientific field which are basic to country progress .
Full time research will be provided in principle
universities an technical institutes.

MAIN POINTS
13300 primary schools will be provided with

better buildings , equipment and qualified

teachers .
Amalgamation of intermediate and secondary
classes for improvement of secondary schools.
Addition of 70000 new primary school
teachers to 127000 already in service.

THINGS COME TO
KNOW
In this plan, importance was given to girls

education which is still continued.

NUML was established.
Importance to teachers education is still
given.
Better education will be provided in schools ,
college and universities.
Research is essential for university level.
