Introduction of The Problem
Expectation and Rationales
III. Expectations- I expect to see a lot of my fellow student s being
okay with spanking children. I am also expecting that many of them
have been spank themselves and that’s the way they feel the way they
do about spanking. I feel that I will see more females being okay with
spanking children. I also feel like certain age groups will have more
people being okay with spanking then others such as the 41-54 group
and the 25-40 age group. I expect to see few if any people who against
spanking. The findings should raise a lot of question and for the
children, I hope I’m wrong.
IV. The Rationale- The reason I feel that some of those things are
going to come out in the data because most of the respondents will be
African American, and spanking is something that goes on in the
African American community. I think most will be okay with spanking
because they were spanked by there parents and feel like that is the
way to raise a child. I feel that older age respondents will be more okay
with spanking then younger because that was the norm when they were
growing up so they pretty much would be okay with the thought of
spanking children. I hope this is not the case.
Abstract
This research seeks to show the problem we face with
corporal punishment being done to children by parents.
To get an understanding of the problem we gave out a
survey to the campus of Tuskegee University to see how
the student body felt about spanking. In this paper we
will present the findings with tables and graphs, in order
to get a clear understanding of the problem.

Discussion
Figure 1 is a chart that displays the percentages of the respondents that think it is cool
to spank children as a means of discipline. The findings were very shocking, most of
the respondents pick yes for their answer. The findings were not even close, 83.3% of
the respondents picked yes and 14.7% picked no. As we look at Figure 2 we see that
most people (77.3%) feel that parents should be allowed to us corporal punishment to
discipline their children. Again people still had a good amount against the norm;
22.7% of the people said that no they do not think that parents should be allowed to
spank their children. This is a great finding in Figure 3, because 50.7% of the people
said yes and 48.6% said no. So it is good that people see that corporal punishment is
not the best way to do things. Now it is the task of finding the way to get people to
stop using corporal punishment at all.
Conclusions
The use of corporal punishment on children is a horrible thing to
do. Not only is it dangerous but it really serves no purpose. I did
this survey on spanking to get a clear understanding of my pears,
who are future parents felt about this problem, and if there was any
hope in fixing this problem. One of the things I first thought of was
that the females would be more inclined to spank children. I also
looked at the fact that since I was surveying people at a HBCU that
a lot of my answers were going to be one sided, only because the
use of spanking on children happens a lot when it comes to the
African American community. I also felt that since many of my
pears were spanked they would see it as no problem to spank their
children because that is what they grow up around. Some of my
thoughts were right but some were wrong. I think that my thoughts
and feeling about corporal punishment reach some of my pears. I
think some had a chance to reflect and really think about if this
method of discipline really work, or were people using it because it
was done to them and they turned out fine so it must be okay.

Introduction of The Problem Abstract Conclusions

I. Description of the problem- The topic I have picked for
my research is abortions. I have chosen abortion because
it is a serious problem that really needs to be address. A
lot of time we over look the fact that many women are
having them which not only bad for them, but also for our
country and the world. I hope by doing this research and
presenting it to my fellow students will get them to have a
strong feeling against having abortions, or suggesting it to
their spouse. I think the true problem with the issue of
abortion is that people are waiting for the government to
step in, rather then talking about it on a lower level. I feel
like if we get one women to say that she will not get an
abortion, and she would get more women not to have
them we can move pass this issue.
This research paper takes a look at the problem of abortion, and
the attitudes of the Tuskegee University students. The first part
sets up the introduction, and what I expected to find out by
doing the survey. The next part shows off the results of the
findings with a series of graphs and tables. Next we look at the
discussion of each of the bivariate crosstabs and multivariate
crosstabs. Last is the summary and conclusion, which sums the
whole paper and project up.
My main focus for this project was to get people to stop having
abortion for reason that don’t deal with life or death. I feel like if
people understand other ways of birth control they will less able to
make the decision to have an abortion. I expected the respondents to
think that abortion was okay. I expected the male respondents to be
okay with abortion, as well as I expected many of the respondents to be
religious people. I expected a lot of people to feel like abortions were
murder. I do think some of my expectation was right, but some were
wrong. I am happy that it worked out that way. The reason I expected
some of these thing to happen was base off social norms. I thought
male respondents would be okay with abortion because they wouldn’t
want to have a unplanned child. I think overall the data came out the
right way, and it made for a great project. I only hope that the ones that
do have to make this decision will consider all the options, and make
the right decision. This problem can be solved once everyone makes it
their goal to educate others.

Expectations and Rationale

III. Hypothesis and Expectations- I have a lot of expectations from
this survey. I expect a lot of things to come out in a certain way, such Figure 1 Figure 2 Figure 3
as I feel like more men will be okay with abortions then women. I feel
like older women will have more of a problem with abortions then
younger women. I also feel that a lot of the respondents will feel that
the government has no part telling a woman what to do with her body. I
also think that a lot of men will say yes to the question asking if they

should be able to have a say in what the woman do. I feel that all
women will feel like the man has no say so in what happens with her Figure 1 shows how the respondents feel about abortion being okay or not. The table

IV. Rationale-. I say that more men will be okay with abortion with
women because men sometimes are the ones who do not want continue
with an unexpected pregnancy, where as women are more happy with
the thought of having a baby so they would want to keep the baby. So I
feel like they would have a little problem with younger girls taking the
easy way out. The reason I say that all the respondents will not like the
government having a say so in what women do with their bodies is
because as Americans we pride ourselves on our freedoms to decide
what we would want to do.

looking at the table we see that 54% of the respondents said no that abortion is
murder. The table also shows that 46% of the respondents feel that abortion is murder.
I think that this table shows the true feelings of the respondents about this issue.
Figure 3 shows that 67% of the respondents felt that yes the man should have a say in
rather or not the woman has the baby, and 33% of the respondents said no. The graph
shocks me that many of the respondents would feel that it is the woman decision on
what she would do with her body.
