The oxygen and fuel gas are mixed in a torch. The mixture burns at several orifices in the
torch tip. When the flame has heated the base metal to a dull cherry red, a lever on the
torch is pressed. This allows ajet of oxygen to rush out of an orifice. Thi oxygen jet quickly
oxidizes the heated base metal and blow it away. This removal of material leaves a cut
(kerf) in the base metal

The oxygen-fuel gas flame burn in a bubble of compressed air which keeps the
water away from the flame. The heat medal is rapidly oxidized and is blown away
bay the oxygen jet.
Fuel performen
An oxygen-fuel gas torch heats the base metal. The valve on a metal pipe is then
opened and a jet of oxygen rapidly oxidizes the heated base metal and blows it
away. The pipe is slowly consumed.
A flame fed by heating orifices in the tip heats the metal. A torch lever is then pressed
and an air jet mixed with powdered chemical rapidly melt the base metal. The flux makes
this melted metal very fluid and the air jet, plus the oxygen jet, blows the metal and flux
away to form a cut (kerf) in the base metal. This process is used mainly for alloy steels.
An arc between a very heavily covered metal electrode and the base metal melts the end
of electrode and the base metal. The metal electrodes melt far back into covering, and this
produces a jet action of gases which blows the molten base metal away.
An arc between a tungsten electrode and the basemetal heats and melts the base metal.
A torch lever then turn on a shielding gas mixture which blows the melted metal away to
form a cut (kerf) in the base metal.
An arc between a tungsten electrode and the torch body ionizes some of the cutting gas.
This ionized gas (plasma) leaves the torch and hits the base metal. The very high plasma
temperatures superheat the base metal and very rapidly form a cut (kerf) in the base
metal.
The electric arc between the metal or carbon electrode and the base metal melts the base
metal. Manually operated air jet attached to the electrode holder blow the molten metal
away. This process is used for gouging base metal as well as for cutting.
An electric arc is drawn between a hollowelectrode and the base metal. A lever on the
holder allows a jet of oxygen to flow through the electrode. This jet cuts the base metal by
rapid oxidization (combining the metal with oxygen)
