A STUDY OF ORAL PRESENTATION
SKILL AMONG UTM STUDENTS

BACKGROUND OF THE
PROBLEM
The oral presentationmeans delivering an
address to a public audience. It also refers to
public speaking. It is a brief discussion of a
defined topic delivered to a public audience
in order to impart knowledge or to stimulate
discussion.The skill in oral presentation is
equally as important as effective writing.
In UTM , students frequently involve in
group projects or individual project that
required briefing or presentation to lecturers
in class. However, quite a number of the
students cannot perform well in this. This
research is conduct to find the reasons and
solutions.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
Students are not confident
when they need to do oral
presentation in public.
Students are lacked of proper
skills to conduct a good oral
presentation.
Students dont know what to
do to improve their performance
in oral presentation.

OBJECTIVE OF THE
RESEARCH
To find out factors that hinders
student from performing a good
presentation as perceived by them.
To investigate the frequency of oral
presentation that student needed to
perform during study in UTM and the
common medium of the presentation.
To suggest solutions to improve
student performance in oral
presentation.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS
This research will find answer to
these questions:
What are the causes that lead to poor
performance of UTM students in oral
presentation?
What are the reasons that induce
lack of performance in oral
presentation that UTM students
perceive.
What are the ways to improve
students performance in oral
presentation?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY


This study is significant because it
will give insights on the factors that
cause students in UTM can not
perform well in oral presentation.
This research will also find out the
important of oral presentation in
UTM academic system.
When the factors are known steps can
be taken by the students and the
administrators to improve the
performance so that the students will
be able to conduct a good oral
presentation.

SCOPE
The respondents are 50 students in
UTM.
This research will try to determine
the factors that cause UTM students
not performing in oral presentation
and the effects .
This research will try to find ways
to improve student performance in
oral presentation.

METHODOLOGY
oQuestionnaire will be used to collect
data.
Analysis will be done base on questionnaire
and other resources.

oInterviews will be conducted.
