What is Natural Science?

Natural science is one of three divisions of
science, the other two being the social
sciences
psychology,
sociology,
economics, etc. and the formal sciences
mathematics, logic, and statistics.
The natural sciences are astronomy, biology,
chemistry, earth science, and physics. These
sciences are the basis for applied sciences.

What is Applied Science?

Applied science is the application of
scientific knowledge transferred into a
physical environment.
Fields of engineering are closely related to
applied sciences. It is also important
for technology and industrial development.

Why Study Natural Science

The study of nature can be divided into

two main branches,
Physical Sciences
Biological Sciences
Physical science is the study of matter
and energy.
Biological sciences deal with living
things.

Why Study Natural Science

Physical Science
Physics
deals with matter in
relation to energy

January 11, 2015

Chemistry
deals with the action of
one kind of matter on
another

Why Study Natural Science

It is difficult to make a clear-cut distinction

between the two, but broadly speaking,
chemistry deals with the action of one
kind of substance on another while
physics is connected mainly with matter
in relation to energy.
Biological sciences deal with living things,
while the physical sciences are connected with
the properties and behavior of non-living
matter.

PHYSICS
Energy is required during reading, riding,
running, watching tv and sleeping

CHEMISTRY
Cooking is chemistry.
Everything you can touch or taste or
smell is a chemical.
It's the explanation for everyday things,
like why laundry detergent works better
in hot water or how baking soda works or
why not all pain relievers work equally
well on a headache.

Chemistry: the central science

If you know some chemistry, you can make
educated choices about everyday products that
you use.

BIOLOGY
The science of biology is, broadly speaking, the
study of living things and how they interact
with all of the things around them.
It draws on chemistry and physics for its
foundation and applies these basic physical
laws to living things.

Living things show four basic

characteristics that the nonliving
do not display:
1. Metabolic processes,
2. Generative processes,
3. Responsive processes, and
4. Control processes.

Why study natural science?

The study of natural science is to build
students understanding of fundamental
concepts of mainly physics, chemistry and
biological sciences in a simple way which will
make them familiar of the facts in relation to
these areas.
As a result, students will find interest to work
comfortably in a scientific environment and
will try to understand the relationship among
different disciplines.

Probable Questions
What are the three divisions of science? Give examples.
Why do you need to learn natural science?
Write about importance of natural science in business studies.
Discuss about role of chemistry in business.
What is physics? What is chemistry? What is biology? What is
environmental science?
What is physical science? What is the difference between
physics and chemistry?
What is applied science?
