Architecture
COMPETITION

FAQS

1. Regarding the boards to be presented, is it required to be

submitted as printed? Yes, as stated in the mechanics of the
Competition. Participants must learn to invest whenever joining a
Competition such as MADE. But MADE fosters cost-efficiency in
preparing an entry. It is up to the architects to utilize their
resources properly in accordance to what is asked by the
secretariat of the MADE Competition.
2. Do we need pictures of the group in action? Yes. The photo
will be used for documentation purposes.
3. What is the size of concept paper? The size is A4 paper.
4. Can a team participate even if one of his team members is
located overseas? Yes. Participants are asked to write a letter
informing the MADE Secretariat that one of a groups team
member is located overseas.

5. How can we incorporate the existing topography of the

site if it is not flat? Please refer to the updated topographical
survey document.
6. Do we have a height and number of floor limitations? There
is no height/ space provision for the given design problem.
7. MADE indicated that one of the criteria in evaluating the
entries is cost-efectiveness. In relation, the competition
stated a construction budget which is 500 million pesos.
How do we go about the criteria given that there is a
posed construction budget? The basic premise is that the
project should reflect value engineering and the overall expenses
is cost effective and justifiable in a sense that the elements of the
entry serves as a realistic purpose in the totality of the project.
8. Do we need to break down the budget expenses from
plumbing to materials, etc? The budgetary expenses can be
summarized similar to the budget submitted when applying for a
building permit.

9. Am I allowed to join the Competition if any of my family

members works for the Metrobank Group of Companies?
Yes, an architect is still allowed to join as long as he/she doesnt
work as an architect for any of the subsidiaries of the Metrobank
Group such as Federal Land, Inc.
10.Is it advantageous if the entry boards are digitally
rendered? Normally, the boards presented in digital rendering
looks presentable but again, it all depends with the Judges. Some
of the (veteran) architects prefer traditional rendering because of
the exceptional curvilinear lines compared to digital. But of
course, the entry will be based on the criteria posted by the MADE
Competition and Judges preferences.
11.Where can we get the data on building restrictions of the
project? The participant may follow the building restrictions (if
any) in Laguna.
12.With regards to member of the teams, can we hire
someone to render it since interns are not allowed? No, it is
not allowed. Any external assistance is prohibited since the
criteria for assessment states that the entry must be wholly
executed by the participating group of architects.

13.What if a member of the team is not capable of doing

digital rendering? Thats why it is made as a team. Each
member has its own strengths and weaknesses. The team can
divide the tasks and responsibilities based on individual capacity.
Ask a teammate who is good at digital or manual rendering to do
the rendering.
14.What if one of the team members is not in good standing
in UAP? The team must fix any membership issues with UAP.
15.Is there a specific number of users of the structure? The
participating team must come up with their own assumptions
based on the given design guidelines as part of the challenge of
the Competition.
16.Are all of the group members required to attend the
deliberation? Yes, participants are requested to attend the
whole day deliberation, dressed in corporate attire.
17.Are the judges the same with the 2014 MADE Board of
Judges? No, MBFI and UAP compose different members of the
Board of Judges yearly.
