Introduction
Scientifically know as VERY LOW OBSERVATORY
(VLO).
Fighter planes are made so they are harder to be detected by
the radar and other devices.
Partial invisibility to radar and other detection.
Reduces detection range of an aircraft.
Similar to camouflage tactics used by soldiers.

History
The first STEALTH aircraft have
been developed in Germany during
the last years of WWII.
The first combat use of stealth
aircraft was in December 1989
during Operation Just Cause in
Panama.
Later Americans worked on stealth
technology and succeeded. This
technique has also been used in ships.

STEALTH TECHNOLOGY
The goal of stealth technology is to make an
airplane invisible to radar.
There are two different ways to create
invisibility:
I. The airplane can be shaped so that any radar
signals it reflects are reflected away from the
radar equipment.
II.The airplane can be covered in materials that
absorb radar signals.
.Stealth aircraft has to be stealthy in six
disciplines: radar, infrared, visual, acoustic,
smoke and contrail.

What Is RADAR ?
Radar is abbreviated as radio detection and ranging.
Radar was developed for war application, now its
applications had diversified .
This is used to launch the missiles based on the
target and also counter attack the missiles launched by
other countries.

STEALTH VECHICLE SHAPES &

DESIGN
Radar absorbing materials.
Acute angle.
Design of NOSE.
Stealth aircraft must bury the
engines within the wings.

Difference between Stealth aircraft

and conventional aircraft

Date

SHAPING OF STEALTH
The shape should be flat or rectilinear and at the same
time oblique to the incoming waves.
Another method bounce back on a very limited
number of directions, maybe only one or two.
A compact, smoothly blended external geometry to
achieve a continuously varying curvature.

RAM & RAS

RAM Refers to RADAR
ABSORBENT MATERIALS.
Most such material consists of an active
ingredient, a dielectric, such as carbon,
or magnetic ferriteswhich is moulded
into a non-lossy dielectric matrix,
usually a plastic of some kind.
RAS refers to RADAR ABSORBENT
STRUCTURE.
To achieve a high degree of absorption
over a wide bandwidth honeycomb
structure is used.

PLASMA STEALTH
Plasma stealth is a proposed process that uses ionized gas
(plasma) to reduce the radar cross section (RCS) of
an aircraft.
Conductivity of the plasma allows it to interact strongly with
the incoming radio wave, but the wave can be absorbed and
converted into thermal energy rather than reflected.
Plasma might also be used to modify the reflected waves to
confuse the opponent's radar system.
Absorption of EM RADIATION by plasma stealth.

PLASMA STEALTH
In this stealth the aircraft injects a stream of ionized gas.

B-2 BOMBER

Advantages
Reduces the causality rates
during war.
Saving military budget.
Develop the military secretes.
Bluff the anti-detective device.
Stealth aircraft are invisible to
radar.

Disadvantages
Stealth aircraft cannot fly fast.
It is not maneuverable.
Stealth

aircraft

can

carry

reduced amount of payload.

Cost of maintenance.
Very economic.
Does not provide the optimum
amount of lift.

Future Of The STEALTH

Development in the field of defense.

Most countries are investing heavily in them and the
emerging technologies.
Stealth Technology has improved significantly more
advanced.
Stealth technology are not yet available worldwide, but
military forces around the world will soon begin to
attempt to mimic some of the key features of stealth
planes.

Conclusions
Stealth

technology developed a lot.

Investment needed is very high.
High chance of low cost gain.
A lot learned about signature reduction
and absorption.
Success yet to be proved extensively.
